U.S. Assistant Secretary of Education Dr.Sharon Robinson hosted a national video-conference, Media Literacy: The New Basic, which originated from New Jersey Network in Newark. Journalist John Merrow moderated the video-conference and narrated the follow-up documentary for prime-time broadcast on PBS. Issues addressed included:

  • What is Media Literacy?
  • Teaching Critical Viewing and Critical Thinking.
  • Citizenship Education for the Information Age.
  • On-Ramp to the Information Superhighway.
  • The Movement -- Spreading the Word.
