Milk Trucks (Divco)

This is my 1969 Divco.

I bought it in September 1997 and had her (Rosie) spiffed up enough (with the help of my wife) to take her to the Hershey Antique Car Show in October of 1997, 1998 and 1999. We did not make the 2000 show as Oliver was still recovering from his fall off the ladder (while cleaning Rosie for a show). However, we did make it back to the 2001 show! We had a lot of fun with her. We used her as the base for the Divco Club of America.

"Rosie" is a refrigerator unit. She'll do 60 mph on the PA Turnpike and after Hershey will go into winter storage in our back barn. I also collect Divco manuals, ads, photos and literature. We were at the Hershey Antique Car Show in October of 1998--in all the rain and mud--but we still had fun. She's also been at two local Lancaster car shows in September 1998 and one in September of 1999.

Well, Rosie was one of the 29 plus trucks starring at the Milk Bottle/DIVCO/Cream Separators Convention at the Holiday Inn, Hershey/Grantville, PA, June 2-4, 2000. This was the largest gathering of DIVCOs known. Here's where you can find our pictures from this wonderful event:

My wife has written a child's book about Rosie--Grandpa O's Milk Truck. It has lots of wonderful sketches of Rosie done by a professional artist! E-mail me for details on how you can purchase a copy of this book for just $5.00 plus $2.00 shipping. It was introduced at the 1999 Hershey Antique Auto Show.

Rosie has been to several OTHER shows this year--not without her problems. After having had MAJOR brake work, she still had to be towed to a show or two. However, on Sunday, July 10, she made it to her first show UNDER HER OWN POWER! And she won the Tom Wagner Memorial Award and received a 2-foot trophy!

We made it to the September Landisville, PA, show with Rosie and she was a big hit as usual. She is now in the barn for the winter.

Thought I'd share with you a picture of some of the small DIVCO toy trucks I have been collecting:
