Oregon

Oregon, with its wonderfully diverse range of different environments and fascinating geology, is one of my favorite places to photograph. From rocky coastline to rugged volcanic mountains to desolate high desert, just about any kind of subject or landscape can be found there. As I find myself returning to Oregon time and time again, becoming more familiar with some places and intimately acquainted with others, I have gradually gained a greater sense of place. Photographing there becomes ever more rewarding with each visit.

The old growth forests of Oregon and the Pacific Northwest are a treasure like no other. No words can describe the feelings that I get when hiking through a virgin forest that is full with a tremendous diversity of lifeforms, including ancient trees that tower 200 feet or more over me. It is as if they possess a timeless wisdom that they are willing to impart to all who will listen and truly hear.

This page is dedicated to my dear friends Paula and Ron, living on Cow Creek in the Umpqua National Forest, who have graciously hosted me on all of my visits to Oregon, and who have shared with me some of the magical places that they have come to know and love.
