Howdy y'all, what's shakin'?

Updated: Monday August 30, 1999 I added a few really cool links - look for NEW!

Well 1999 certainly seems to be a good year for Doctor Who. So far we've seen an English postal stamp of the Daleks (see graphic below), "Curse of the Fatal Death" on the British Comic Relief special (starring Rowan Atkinson as the Doctor), the continued publication of excellent Doctor Who books from the BBC, and the first of the new audio adventures of Doctor Who. Yup, that's right! If you haven't heard, DOCTOR WHO IS BACK IN PRODUCTION! The BBC has officially sanctioned a series of audio dramas from Big Finish Productions -- starring the actors that originally played the Doctor. The first one is great! It's called "The Sirens of Time" and stars Peter Davison, Colin Baker, and Sylvester McCoy. Pick up your copy on-line or through 800-TREKKER! The next one is due out in September, "Phantasmagoria", starring Peter Davison and Mark Strickson. I can't wait!

Here's the scoop. I've been a Doctor Who fan for over fifteen years. Admittedly, that can be taken as good or bad. I've seen many good Doctor Who web pages out there, but none exactly as I would have done them. Well, now that I'm actually doing one - I have no idea what to put on it. Until I can think of something better to do, I'm going to put a bunch of downloadable files that can be used to customize your Desktop with a Doctor Who flavor. I'll also throw in a cool link or two, if I feel like it.

When you first arrived at this page, a Wave file should have automatically loaded and started playing. If it didn't play, click here to load the file.

Below are several files I used to customize my desktop.

WALLPAPER:

The Eight Doctors (52 KB) is a composite JPEG image of all eight of the Doctors.

Tardis in Flight (34 KB) is a neat JPEG image with Roundels on the left side for your icons.

UNIT (56 KB) is a fantastic JPEG image of some of the Doctors greatest supporting cast.

SOUNDS:

Sounds for "Window Start" or "Welcome" to an On-line service.

Doctor Who TV Movie Theme (355 KB) excerpt wave file.

Tardis Arriving (79 KB) is a great wave file for Opening.

Sounds for "Default Sound" or "Critical Stop".

"That Didn't Work..." (15 KB) is a wonderful Troughton wave file.

"That Won't Work..." (33 KB) is a neat McGann wave file from the TV movie.

Sounds for "Windows Exit" or "Goodbye" from On-line service.

"Turn It Off..." (35 KB) is another Troughton wave file.

"Things To Do..." (37 KB) is a fun Tom Baker wave file.

Tardis Dematerializing (86 KB) is a great wave file for Exiting.

After pouring over literally hundreds of icons and cursors, I picked what I felt was the very best ones and created the zip files below.

CURSORS FOR YOUR MOUSE:

Cursors (11 KB) is a zip file with eight different cursors for your computer. There's a Sonic Screwdriver or a Tardis Key for your pointer. There are two kinds of animated Timerotors and a K-9 firing for your working and busy cursors. Finally, also for your busy cursor there is an animated Dalek firing, a spinning Tardis, and a dematerializing Tardis.

ICONS:

Icons (34 KB) is a zip file with twenty different icons for your desktop. The icons range from snapshots of the Doctors to images of Doctor Who villains and technology.
