Furthering the tradition of romantic piano
The current nostalgia craze is hardly an overnight sensation. It was actually years in the making. A master interpreter of classic songs. David Osborne gives his audience a nightly tour through The Great American Songbook at his regular Caesars Palace engagement in Las Vegas. He's finding that people are clamoring for old-fashioned romantic sounds.
"This music is really the sountrack of our lives" Osborne says,"A certain song may remind you of the great time you had at a wedding. Or maybe it was your mother's favorite song. Or it has some other connection to your childhood."
Numerous Baby Boomers studied dance or piano or other instruments during their Wonder Years. Many now have children who are involved in these pursuits. The classic songs provide a generational continuity factor that is becoming increasingly rare in today's fast-paced society. "Many people grew up with these songs being played around the house." David concludes,"While it was'nt cool to like the standards then, they subliminally formed an appreciation for them. It's created a whole new fan base."
