Trouble At Station 51

by Rick Cortez a.k.a. Nightman

It's a bad day for the crew at Station 51 where they meet a terrified lady along with her 14-year-old daughter who hide inside the station to escape her abusive husband. A PG Rated E! fan fic story. Parental discretion is advised.

Johnny and Roy were returning from a run involving a man who was having a heart attack and was rushed to Rampart Emergency for observation. They entered the station's kitchen getting ready to eat their lunch . . .

"What's for lunch, Marco?" Roy asked.

"Some delicious Stew," Said Marco.

"All right, I love stew! Let's dig in everyone, shall we?"

"Gage, how did the heart case call go?" Stanley asked.

"Just fine Cap. Doctor Early said that he'll pull through and everything will be fine," replied Johnny.

"I'm glad to hear that," said Hank.

Just then, there was a loud pounding at the station's back door. Johnny got up from the table to check and see who the person was. It was a close friend of Johnny's, Suzie Brown.

"Oh, Johnny there you are. You have to help me," said Suzie.

"What's the problem there, Suzie?" Johnny asked.

"It's my husband Gary. He's gonna kill me and Laura!" Suzie sobbed.

"Ok, just calm down. Come on in here Suzie," Johnny replied.

When Suzie and her daughter Laura entered the station, he brought them to safety.

"Gary is a psychotic loser, and he needs to be locked up in jail for assault," Suzie said.

"You mean he had violated every restraining order?" asked Johnny.

"Of course he has Johnny. And he still doesn't listen to what I'm saying at all," Cried Suzie.

"Ok, now. Calm down there Suzie, it's gonna be okay. It's all right there." Johnny said, soothingly. But just then there was another pounding at the station's back door and it was her crazed husband, Gary Brown.

"Suzie, Suzie! You open this door right now!" Gary said with anger on his face.

"Go away Dad! Mom doesn't want to see you!" Laura shouted at his father in the station's back door.

"You shut up Laura and open this door right now or I'll break this door in your mother's face, and yours too probably! Do you hear me?!" Gary asked angrily.

Mike went to open the station's back door when suddenly Gary pushed Mike out of the way as he entered the station with a loaded shotgun.

"Okay, Suzie, you and your stupid daughter better come with me right now!" Gary hollered.

"Gary please, she doesn't want to come with you now. Just give her time and she'll think of something," Johnny said.

"You back off Hosejockey, I'm not interested in your damn remarks!" Gary shouted pointing the gun at Johnny.

Hank ran out of the kitchen to the Station's Dispatch desk as he called in for a still alarm call so he can dispatch the Police just in case he needed some assistance.

"L.A. Station 51, We have a still alarm Woman needs assistance, The woman's husband is threatening to kill her and his daughter with a loaded rifle. Send five Police units to our location."

"Station 51, Time out 13:36." Sam replied.

"KMG 365," Hank said on the mic before hanging up.

"Now, Gary please settle down here.  You don't want to hurt anyone. . . or me for that matter, do you?" asked Johnny.

"Shut the hell up, Creep! I don't need your pity or your crazy excuses either!" Gary said violently.

"Gary Stop it, okay? Just Stop it!" Suzie shouted with anger & rage.

"You shut up bitch! Either you and Laura come home with me right now or your stupid daughter and that Hosejockey Fireman friend of yours dies! Do you get me?!" asked Gary, angrily pointing the gun between Johnny, Laura, and Suzie..

Moments later, several Police units arrived in the back of the Station 51 entrance. Police Officers Vince Howard and his partner Bill Joseph along with Detectives Paula Nash and her partner Robbie Sheets, met Captain Stanley who was waiting outside the station's back door next to the Captain's Office.

"Hey Hank, what's the trouble here?" asked Vince.

"The woman's husband is threatening to kill his wife and his daughter, and he may be killing one of my men.  You have to do something with him before he kills them all," replied Stanley.

"How old is the woman's daughter?" asked Detective Sheets.

"She's 14.  She'll turn 15 in October," replied Stanley.

"Okay Captain, I'll have my partner contact additional units, and the S.W.A.T. team to this location just in case we need some additional assistance," said Detective Sheets.

"Sure thing.  Thanks very much.  I'll be in contact with you shortly if I hear anything," Hank said.

Police Sergeant BIlly Jacobs got the bullhorn from the squad car to talk the suspect out, from inside the station's back door.

"Mr Brown, Mr Gary Brown! This is the Police.  We have you surrounded.  Put down the shotgun and let your wife and daughter go.  Come out with your hands up."

Gary saw several Police cars outside the back door and he was starting to get very, very, violent.

"Who called the cops, huh! Who called them?" Gary asked with anger.

"Come on Gary give it up, you've got no place to go," Johnny said while reasoning with Gary.

But he didn't want to hear anymore of Gage's lies or excuses so instead he turned to him and said, "Sorry Hosejockey," Gary said with a mean smile as he shot him in cold blood.

"NO! JOHNNY!" Roy screamed.

"GARY, NO!" Suzie shouted in horror.

"Sir, shots fired inside the station, repeat, shots fired!" Officer Joseph replied.

"Don't worry Joseph, he won't get far," said Sergeant Jacobs.

"Johnny, can you hear me?! JOHNNY!"

Roy screamed in horror, "NOOOOOOOOOO!"

"Johnny, can you hear me? Johnny!" Roy tried to get Johnny to respond by waking him up, but he was unconscious.  He had been shot in the chest two times by the psychotic abuser Gary Brown.

"You bastard. You damn stupid bastard! You shot my friend!" Suzie shouted at Gary angrily.  She then slapped her husband in the face in anger.  She held her daughter in her arms to ease the madness at Staton 51.

"Sir, I've just heard from dispatch and they said a S.W.A.T. teams wouldn't be available for at least two hours because they're involved in something going on in North Valley," Detective Sheets said.

"We can't wait that long for that monster to come out. Cancel the S.W.A.T. team. We can handle it ourselves," Sargeant Jacobs said.

"Right, Sargeant."

Captain Stanley got the handie talkie and called in for another squad and an ambulance.  "L. A. Station 51, respond another squad and an ambulance to our location."

"Ten four, 51," the dispatcher said.

"I told him, but that jerk didn't listen.  I knew this was gonna happen. You see what happens when you two don't obey my orders!? Huh? You see what you did?!" Gary asked violently.

"I hate you daddy!" Laura shouted.

"Shut up, bitch!" Gary said as he slapped his daughter in the face.

"Gary, stop it please.  Don't hurt my daughter like that," Laura sobbed.

"Shut up bitch! I've had enough of your whining!" Gary hollered.

"Hang in there partner, you're gonna be okay," Roy replied sadly.

"Roy? I'm shot," Johnny said.

"I know Pally, but everything's gonna be okay, so hang in there," Roy instructed.

Moments later, Squad 10 and the ambulance arrived at Station 51.

Paramedics David Carter and partner Joe Roth stood by outside the Station with the officers till they got a direct okay from Sargeant Jacobs.

"Nash, Sheets, go ahead and try to get inside the station and take the subject out! He's not going to come out and surrender.  He's just jerking us off," Sargeant Jacobs replied.

"Right, Sargeant," Detective Sheets said.

Sargeant Jacobs once again spoke into the bullhorn to try to get the suspect to give himself up.

"Mr Brown, for the last time, come out with your hands up!"

Suddenly, a shot rang out from the Station almost hitting one of the officers.

"Go away cops. I'm not going back to jail with all of you pigs! If you don't leave this place I'll kill her and that bitch daughter of hers just like I killed that fireboy over there.  I'll plan to kill another fireman later! Do you hear me?!" Gary asked with a terrible shout.

Gary went back inside to find his shotgun was missing.

"Hey, where's my shotgun?!" Gary asked violently.

"Right here, asshole." Detective Nash said as she entered the station with a gun pointing at the suspect.

"Now look Missy, I don't want any trouble ok? I just want you to leave me alone so I can waste my wife and daughter," Gary sneered.

"Well you got trouble now Brown.  You've violated every restraining order for domestic violence and abuse.  You just won't leave her or your daughter alone, so you're going to go back to jail where you'll be spending the rest of your life."

"Are you kidding me?" Gary asked with a mean laugh.

"You laugh at me punk, and I'll shoot you right where you stand," replied Nash with anger on her face.

Just then, Robbie came to check on Paula.  "Paula, is everything okay?"

"Yeah Robbie, we got him.," Paula said.

Just then, Gary grabbed the shotgun from Paula and started shooting at the male cop.

"Robbie watch out!" Paula shouted.

"Oh, God!" Robbie said.

Robbie was shot once in the chest by the maniac, so Paula reached for her gun and pointed it at the suspect, advising him to put down the gun.

"Drop the gun asshole!" Paula screamed, pointing the gun at Gary.

"Leave me alone, or I'll kill my wife!" Gary hollered, pointing the gun at his wife's head.

"Run Laura, Run!" Suzie yelled.

Laura ran out to the Station's garage where she met the police and Captain Stanley who brought the young girl to safety. "Just take it easy Laura, everything will be okay," Hank replied, soothingly.

Back inside Station 51, Paula held the gun to Gary's head advising him to drop the gun or he would be shot by her or one of the other Officers. Roy wanted to get Johnny to the hospital fast before he lost too much blood.

"You won't shoot her Brown.  You haven't got the guts to do it, Punk!" Paula shouted.

"You're gonna kill me, Police bitch?!" Gary asked.

"Don't tempt me, buster," Paula said roughly.

Just then he pushed his wife out of the way and pointed his gun at the female cop, but she reached for her gun and started shooting at him.

Gary was hit once in the arm by a police bullet, but he took no chances.  One again he pointed the gun at Detective Nash but missed as she shot him three or four times in the stomach. Gary fell to the floor and was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Sir, we have an officer down inside the station.  Repeat, officer down," Officer Rogers said.

"Okay, go get the gurney so you can get inside.  We need to get him to a hospital fast!" Sargeant Jacobs commanded.

"It's over, everything's under control!" Roy yelled. "Bring the stokes in here and get Johnny to the hospital fast!" 15 minutes later, Squad 10 and the ambulance left Station 51 to transport both patients to Rampart Emergency for treatment.

Three days later, Roy and Chet came to see Johnny in Room 307. Dixie met the boys in the hall.

"Hey Dix, how's it going?" Roy asked.

"Just great Roy," Dixie replied.

"I've brought some hamburgers for Johnny," Chet said.

"Why that's very thoughtful of you Chet," Dixie replied with a smile.

After a brief conversation, both men got in the elevator and headed to the third floor to see Johnny.

When they got in to Room 307, Johnny was happy to see his friends.

"Hey Junior, how's it going?" Roy asked as he walked in.

"Not too bad Roy.  Just fine," Johnny said.

"Gage, I've brought you some burgers for lunch," Chet replied.

"Thanks Chet, that's my favorite meal in the world!" Johnny exclaimed with a crooked smile.

"I'm glad it is.  How's that undercover detective?"

Oh, he only suffered a bullet through the chest but he'll pull through," Johnny replied.

"Glad to hear that Johnny," Chet said.

The two men shared their moments together at the hospital, but were cut short by the arrival of other visitors, including nurse Dixie.

"Johnny, Guys, you have a visitor here," Dixie said as Suzie and her daughter Laura entered the room to see Johnny.

"Johnny, I want to thank you for giving me and my daughter a new life for ourselves.

"Oh, forget it Suzie, it's no problem at all," Johnny replied with a blush.

"Say, Johnny, if you want to go out sometime, you know where to find me right?" Suzie asked.

"Right, Suzie I'll call you sometime," Johnny smiled.

"Well, we better get going now Johnny.  See you later." Roy said.

"Yeah, see you guys later," Johnny replied.

All of the people left the room so Johnny could get the rest he needed. Two weeks later, he was released from Rampart and he returned to work.
