Temporary Access to City of Chicago Ordinances

Temporary Access to City of Chicago Ordinances

On October 11, 2000, the City of Chicago complied with the Public Access Project's FOIA request for public access to all City ordinances. The City is working with its Municipal Code publisher to establish a link with the City's main Web site. Temporarily, the Chicago Municipal Code can be accessed by logging on to the Municipal Code Corporation's Web site. The City has persuaded the Municipal Code Corporation to remove the password. For some unexplained reason the zoning code is not included. However the city has posted the Zoning Code on the City Web site.

For those who wish to download your own text file copy of the Chicago Municipal Code (up-to-date as of November 2000 but not including the Zoning Code), Click here to download. (zipped text file). Public Access is attempting to secure a more recent edition.

The City should be congratulated for its prompt compliance and congenial cooperation.
