Vote for PCAN's 2003 baseball card.

It's that time of year again. Spring training in Florida and Arizona means that in only a few weeks we will have opening day of baseball season for the Pirates, the Phillies and many minor league teams across PA. As in past years, PCAN intends to create a baseball card "honoring" someone who has done disservice to PA that will be distributed at baseball games around the state on opening day.

In past years the winners were Sen. Santorum for taking millions from people who want to destroy Medicare and Medicaid, Gov. Ridge for his anti-environmental actions, and Atty. Gen. Fisher for his inaction on corporate crimes.

Who will win this year? It's up to you. On March 31 we will tabulate the results.

The cards will be distributed at opening day of The Philadelphia Phillies (April 4) and the Pittsburgh Pirates (April 7). Please let us know if you want to work with us to distribute cards in your locale.

Who should be on PCAN's 2003 baseball card?
Ed Rendel-for his support of the death penalty
PA House Democrats- for their racist appropriations policies
Rep. Jonathan Perzel- for manipulating the state budget procedure
Ed Rendell- for his state budget priorities
Ed Rendell- for his anti-environmental appointments and policies
PA General Assembly-for mainpulating the state budget process
Sen. Rick Santorum- for his right wing leadership
Sen. Arlen Specter- for his support of FTAA and other
PA Members of Congress- for their silence in our rush toward war
Atty. Gen. Mike Fisher- for his lack of attention to corporate crimes

The time has come to create a real progressive network in PA!

  • Since the November, 2000 Bush-Cheney Coup d'Etat:
    The presidency was stolen;

  • Thousands were killed by terrorists trained and funded by the US;

  • War for oil has been initiated against Iraq;

  • Civil liberties have faced unprecedented threats;

  • The environment has been turned over to polluters;

  • Unemployment has risen;

  • Poverty has increased;

  • Unions, and the right to organize, have been assaulted;

  • The right to choose has been threatened;

  • Corporate power has increased;

  • Overt racism, sexism and homophobia have become more acceptable…

And that is only the tip of the iceberg.

So what are we going to do about it?

Stop NAFTA Expansion. Check out the Report on PA Job Losses Due to NAFTA NAFTA has already cost PA over 35,000 jobs-766,000 nationwide. Now Bush and powerful corporations are working to create and expanded North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) that will include 34 nations in the Western Hemisphere. If you care about human rights, the environment, civil rights, labor rights and our democracy, you need to know about this new agreement and help us fight it.
