Taya's Horse Flute

This was my First Flute, and  remains my Favorite.  It is the one I play most all of my recorded
Music on.  It has traveled my life's Journey thus far and is filled with Stories to Sing.

The mouthpiece of the Flute is made from choke cherry; a good hard wood which is relatively
unaffected by moisture.  The body and horse block are made from birch.  It's voice has a
round, full quality, lighter in tone than its cedar cousin.  A life changing gift made specifically
for me...this Flute has very deep personal significance.  It has cried my tears, sung my joys... and
raised my Voice up in Prayer for many years.  I wonder if I should push the gender envelope a
bit more and try courting with it? ::hmmm:::

After all these years, I decided to give my Flute a face lift.  The photos show my beadwork in
progress.  When finished it will represent Lightening <obviously> and Thunder.

Close-up of Beadwork Some things pick their own time to be finished, and the
best things never are.  My Music flows by it's own
design, and comes when it comes.  There have been
periods when I thought it had abandoned me.  "Dry"
times in both Heart and Spirit.  Makes me appreciate
it all the more when the Music graciously returns.

I want my Music to touch people in a good way...to give
the listener the feeling of a deeper connection.  A soothing
moment in a hectic life perhaps; or a reminder that there are
other ways of viewing the world...and of exploring ourselves
and our place it it.  Most often there is too much noise in the
world for us to overcome, in order to truly "Hear".
