Notes: For height comparison, standing in front of this palm tree is Christina who is 5'-8" tall. The palm was planted before 1968 and has been growing with no artifical protection from the cold and ice.

Seeds of Needle Palm in DC Notes: Close-up of it's 3' wide by 2' tall trunk and needle mound that looked like a giant sea urchin. It had several clusters of 1/4" almond colored velvet-textured unripened seeds at the time. Two dual seed clusters are shown circled in red. Close-up photo is from June 1998.
