After carving, I coated all front and back with shellac.  Then I used a Ivory Black oil paint to cover the Indian and immediattely used a dry lint free cloth to wipe up paint leaving the black in the areas desired.  Used a tooth brush dipped in linseed oil (linseed oil will increase drying time) to clean up around eyes.
I thinned the paint with linseed oil (dipped brush in linseed oil then in paint) and
coated the eagle, immediately wiping up excess.
