The mission of the Path of the Personal Divine is to recognize, nurture,
and worship the divine in all things.
We believe in a universal Divine force that powers and informs the
universe. Everything in the universe, seen and unseen, is both part of and
contained within the Divine. As such, everything is interconnected, and
everything has the knowledge of its own divinity within it. Thus, we can and
must seek Divine truth within ourselves.
We believe, therefore, that all of nature and the universe, all physical
matter and all life, all plants, all animals including man are worthy of
respect. Denying the divinity of the universe is the only sin on the Path.
We believe that the Divine continually grows and changes, mirrored by
the evolution of the universe, in an ever-expanding spiral. Thus reality
itself is evolving, requiring that we constantly re-evaluate our perception of
and relationship with the Divine. Accordingly, each individual must be open to
continuous growth and change on the spiritual, personal, and physical levels,
and learn to work with the cycles of the Universe rather than
against them.
We believe that all the gods that humans worship are faces of this Divine,
which is so illimitable and vast that we can only comprehend it partially at
this time. However, as humans worship and identify with the different aspects
of the Divine, we link with the greater Whole and learn how to fulfill our
unique destinies in the Universe.
We believe that we have much to learn from the beliefs, faiths, and
accomplishments of our ancestors. We respect their wisdom, but recognize
that all human systems contain error. We are obliged to expand upon our
ancestors’ knowledge, and correct error wherever it we find it.
The respect we hold for our ancestors we also extend to our children.
We will educate them in our faith and expose them to our forms of worship. We
will instill in them the desire to continue our work of searching for Divine
truth. We will prepare them for this work by introducing them to the spiritual
questions and problems of our times, and encourage them to participate with us
in seeking answers to these questions and problems. We will give them the
tools they will need to discover their own truths, develop their own forms of
worship, and solve their own problems.
We are Gnostics, because we believe that knowledge is the key to
personal epiphany.
We are Pagans, because we revere Nature as Divine.
We are Panentheists, for we believe that the Divine is both immanent
and transcendent.
We are Polytheists, because we believe that all the gods worshiped are
aspects or faces of a greater Presence that permeates all things.
We hold all these different aspects as valid, for to deny any aspect is
to deny part of the Divine. The variety of the Divine is part of what makes it
so rich. The same holds true for the inhabitants of the Universe -- diversity
in the forms and ways of Life is natural and necessary to keep the Whole
complete. To deny the validity of any person in the Universe is to deny one's
own validity.
