In 1979, Dr. Som Virk founded Phi-Delta, Inc. and started to develop and enhance PD STRUDL, a proprietary version of STRUDL.

PD STRUDL has evolved down a long and prestigious line of STRUDL codes.  With origins at the MIT Systems Engineering Laboratory, the MIT Department of Civil Engineering first released STRUDL in the early 1960's.

During the early 1970's, PD STRUDL, a modified copy of MIT STRUDL, was further enhanced at Optimum Systems Inc.  In the late 1970's, it was refined by PSDI in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Since 1979, PD STRUDL has been extensively enhanced by Phi-Delta Inc. to implement may unique features and help many companies improve productivity, reduce man time, complete projects on schedule, and reduce production cost.
