.Artist's Biography
Marissa Garcia, an artist and therapist, is a native of the Philippines. She obtained her Bachelor's of Fine Art Degree from Western Kentucky University and a Masters degree in Art Therapy from Expressive Therapies, University of Louisville.
As an art therapist, Marissa has worked with people of
all ages and cultures. It is through these experiences that she learned the importance of
art, not only as a medium of self- expression, 
but also as a way of documenting, mastering and
organizing one's reality. She has also learned that the process of creating is as
important as the finished product. Because of this, her art is varied in presentation and
techniques. The process of internal freedom and variety of options while creating is part
of the joy she finds in art.
Marissa is also deeply involved in her own spiritual practice, as well as studies of various religions practiced by different cultures. Her work is directly influenced by this, as well as by her studies with a spiritual healer from her native land. It is from this that she learned the importance of one's intent and energy which are projected onto the artwork, and are passed on to the viewer.
