PERFECT ATTITUDES & BEHAVIORS (for kids) ARE EASY & COSTLESS!

IS THIS SENTENCE LOGICAL OR JUST NONSENSE?


Let's first logically examine it for possible nonsense:

Perfect attitudes and behaviors?  Most people will say that only GOD has perfect attitudes and perfect behavior!  And they are absolutely right.  However, viewed from the perspective of imperfect humans, another conclusion can be drawn!  While it's so that true perfection lies only with GOD, perfection in human terms of behavior and attitudes can lie within the eye of the beholder.  What is perfect to one person may be completely imperfect to another or vice versa. To approach human perfection (in the eyes of most people) the behavior and attitude must not trespass upon the rights of others nor be detrimental to the individuals involved.  Moreover, the behavior and attitude should, hopefully, benefit the individuals involved and society in some way.

So, what would most humans consider as perfect attitudes and behavior?  How about a child who was self motivated, self disciplined, self responsible, self-controlled, self-managed and so forth?  But, you should say:  "What could achieve such a miracle?"  Well, it's a fact that all of these wonderful attitudes, and many more besides, automatically flow from a firmly entrenched attitude of self accountability.  And, believe-it-or-not, our simple and costless program called the "Harrison System" develops a permanent and habitual attitude of self accountability in any child.  


Now let's examine the rest of the sentence using pure logic:

With the words "perfect attitudes & behaviors," hopefully understood (and out of the way), let's now logically examine the why, when, how, where, and other things that cause perfect attitudes & behaviors to be so SO beneficial, costless, and easy to achieve.

WHY can perfect attitudes & behaviors (for kids) be easily and costlessly obtained?  Because all that's required is a change in the attitudes of the children and the adults involved.  This preferably should take place when the children are receptive and before wrong habits are already cemented into the mind.  The major thought change for adults is from management to self-management methods!  Adults in charge of youngsters must now constantly think in terms of how they can get kids to want to do things themselves rather than how they can better manage their children.  It's a fact, a truly self accountable child or adult detests making a mistake.  A mistake (in such a person's mind) always brings known and undesirable consequences, personally, or else it removes valuable scorekeepers - labeled "Points" for children or "Dollars" for adults. An attitude such as this is a must!  Most management methods promote testing of the inconsistent manager or even lawlessness and defiance.  On the other hand, if the manager tries to be consistent, he or she is usually worked and stressed beyond belief.  So remember: True self accountability and self responsibility for children can be accomplished only with self accountability methods. When the child believes he or she must automatically come to the adult for advice, only then will the adult logically know that management is unnecessary - eliminating most stress and work in rearing or educating children.

HOW to do it is no further away than a click of the mouse at: http://members.aol.com/ALLANHARRI/index.html  but don't forget to come back and read the rest of this site.  Basically all that's required are two things:  1st.  Build self accountable youngsters with a valuable (to-the-child-involved) self accountable scorekeeper (called "Points").  We adults call our scorekeepers "Dollars!"  2nd.  Base everything upon your "Rules of Law," which the children understand and have helped you to make.

"In a nutshell," our self-management program for children requires the following attitude changes from customary management methods:  

  1. With the kids participating, create "classroom or household laws" with valuable point penalties for each infraction.  Thus, the children know why each law is necessary and also realize that when they become a lawbreaker they are pitting themselves against the rest of the household or classroom rather than just a single  manager.  Few kids will want to withstand such pressure.
  2. With the kids participating and offering suggestions, design motivational (to the child involved) items to be sold (or auctioned) for earned points.  The more valuable (to the child involved) that the item is, the more motivation achieved.
  3. ALWAYS BE CONSISTENT!  When the law is broken ALWAYS take the prescribed points from the lawbreaker.
    1. Explain this to children:  Failure of Mom or Dad or Teacher to take points is not only unfair and unjust to lawful participants who do obey the law but such a thing will eventually destroy the self accountability program (the kids love) and cause (the hated) management methods to return.
    2. Sympathize (even cry right along with the rascal) - but take the points!  Kids should now be told the points unjustly taken can be recovered with a "Lawsuit."  Thus, the decision shifts to the lawbreaker as to whether or not points will be taken. Guilt ridden managers can become a thing of the past.
    3. Adults must always remember:  Points legitimately taken from a lawbreaker are the highest form of productivity any teacher or parent can devise. Once taken, the rascal must earn some more. Thus, he or she eventually gets the best education in the classroom or performs more chores at home for the benefit of the family.  Or, another way of looking at it, shouldn't the rascal be allowed to spend (or throw away) his or her hard earned points as he or she desires - rather than have them taken away by some manager?

 WHERE can you try the Harrison System?  Try it in your household or K-8 classroom!  Or, for that matter, use it in any classroom.  This includes junior high, high school, Sunday school, preschool, and etc. - with some modifications. However, it must be admitted that the Harrison System works best whenever the adult has more rather than less children competing (at each individual's pace) for the rewards available. In fact, the more kids involved the better the beneficial results - unlike management methods. The reasons for this are logical.  First of all, the kids run the program for the adults.  The more kids the more talent!  Second, the talented kids eagerly want to help the less talented (for points).  Third, all of the children are self motivated and self disciplined.  And, finally, any child who doesn't have such attitudes gets an even better education than those who do - because the rascal loses or wastes his or her points and then must productively earn some more. A "bankrupt" pupil is not something anyone wants to be - just ask one!  Perhaps a factual example from past history will better prove the value of the Harrison System for today.

In the early 1800's, a Quaker elementary schoolmaster of New York and Pennsylvania, by the name of Joseph Lancaster, using techniques similar to the Harrison System, taught over a 1000 pupils, all by himself and at the same time, and had parents clamoring to pay his fees. Moreover, he started over a 100 private schools doing the same thing before political pressure from his competition made him stop.  Just think what this could do for the cost of American public education today - that is if education's managers and the managers of the teachers' union would only approve. Our SACS foundation would love to prove this point if the proper donor appeared.

OTHER THINGS beneficial, costless, and easy to achieve with perfect attitudes & behaviors (for kids) can be listed as follows:

  • Businesses should be persuaded to sponsor or fund public benefits with our SACS foundation (SACS2000) implementing and operating the program.  This can be accomplished by:
    • Workshops in Harrison System methods (let's call them "Institutes") for teachers, parents, employees, etc. (with SACS help). This should build the sponsor's business through society's good will and by, possibly, developing future self motivated employees for the business.
    • A profitable or non-profit elementary school for employees' children (with SACS help). This could lock-in worker employment.  The school should offer (or allocate) leftover spaces to the general public's children.  Moreover, the school might be located on the sponsor's property or elsewhere - very inexpensively (see OwnaPvtSch) and (PerfectSchools).  "The Perfect Schools web site may not be available yet since it is in the process of construction."     • A contact person for public or private school implementation of the Harrison System - locally or anywhere (with SACS help).
    • A contact person for household implementation of Harrison System methods (with SACS help) - locally or anywhere. The YMCA, YWCA, Chambers of Commerce, and other similar organizations, as well as other businesses might be utilized as launching platforms for the dissemination of Harrison System methods.
  • Society and you will enjoy many easy and costless benefits from widespread use of Harrison System methods. For example:
    • There will be a big reduction in taxes, welfare, violence, crime, the need for BIG government, and many other bothersome things.
    • Difficulties will disappear in the areas of race relations, inflation, foreign policy, public debt, voter turnout, and understanding of democracy, patriotism, and the meaning of freedom itself. Other difficulties we have today seem certain to diminish, also.  In other words, America is headed for vast improvement!
  • Elementary Schools, with their many problems, should be ripe and ready for all of the many benefits the Harrison System can provide.  Actually there are SO many benefits that a full web site is needed to adequately describe them.  Click on (PerfectSchools) to see our web site now, but come back.  However, before proceeding further, a caution needs to be issued . Any benefit for schools, today, may be hard to come by.  Public and even some private schools are effectively controlled by managers (administrators) who can't be blamed for wanting to protect their management jobs. By now, hopefully, you should realize that a self accountability program, called the Harrison System, will quickly and obviously eliminate the need for much management. So, expect the reception from education's managers to be cool to say the least.
  • Problems with children will automatically disappear.  But better yet - you'll have NO PROBLEMS, initially - if you use Harrison System methods.  Click on (SacsKids) or (MARGEHARRI) to become a believer (but then come back).  Some examples are:
    • Problems of any kind are now problems for the child and never for the adult in charge!  If the rascal decides to break the law, it's his or her problem.  Every rascal now knows that he or she will lose valuable points for mistakes, so they try not to make any!
    • Adults no longer need to be a psychologist nor do they normally need to consult one so often!  When kids automatically come for advice, solutions to problems can be discussed early, teacher to pupil or parent to offspring, without the need for the management skills, expertise, or error prevention methods suggested by most psychologists after problems are already present. Nor, often, is a large financial cost a factor when things get out of control - because (if the Harrison System is used) they seldom get out of control.
    • Parents will have no more arguments or split decisions in trying to properly manage kids. Stepparents, authoritarian parents, and permissive parents will now all be in agreement. The law is the law and points must be taken from lawbreakers as was decided in "Family Council" meetings. The other household members will insist upon it.
    • Child Abuse!  Why physically abuse the child when the adult in charge can have the child in tears the minute the rascal breaks the law - or even hours afterwards?
    • Anger, violence, or criminal problems! The guilty is always fined points (and/or suffers previously prescribed consequences) and the rascal makes restitution in points to the injured for the damage caused. This hurts far longer than any physical punishment and causes the child to productively earn more points, thus, such a rascal gets a better education than others in the program. With a permanent attitude such as this, doesn't self-control logically seem like it will be used - before problems occur?
    • Social Problems!  The Harrison System is a perfect program to eliminate such problems both at home and at school.  Kids in the program learn to properly and constantly work, play, and help one another - first to earn points and then just because they enjoy it and want to.  And, finally because it's the right and conscientious thing to do.  A person's race, color, sex, etc. makes no difference - it's only one's ability that counts. The gifted child earns points, prestige, and a good feeling helping the slow child and the slow children appreciate it!  Democratic principles, from voting to justice, guide everything in the program.
    • Divorce, deaths, and other very emotional events are BIG problems which are shrinkable with Harrison System methods!  The reason is:  The more self-reliant the child the more emotionally stable he or she is!  Disappointments, failures, etc. are challenges "System Kids" learn they can outgrow, overcome, or reverse (with sufficient effort)!  The management trained child waits for direction or assistance which often never comes.
    • Addictions (drugs, alcohol, smoking, etc) are problems which MUST be solved before they become addictions.  System kids automatically develop into think-for-yourself, self-responsible  "Leaders" and self accountable "Followers." If the addiction is harmful in any way, isn't it more logical to think that the self accountability trained human will initially refuse to use drugs, alcohol, tobacco, etc. than the child trained with management methods - "where monkey see and monkey do" seems normal?  Don't management methods try hard to get the subject to follow the manager's directions?  But, who can tell who the manager will be - good or bad - later?
    • Problems with gifted kids?  The obvious solution is to challenge them, create a program where they are never bored, and use methods of self accountability - permitting unlimited progress within the limits of their capabilities. Such a program occurs automatically with proper Harrison System utilization.
    • ADD and ADHD problems?  Such problems often result from a faulty diagnosis of the child.  Many times the child is actually gifted but bored.  If so, the solution is as previously explained with gifted kids.
    • Almost endless problems (with kids) can have easy, costless, and do-it-yourself solutions using Harrison System methods!  Try it and see!  Others have before you - click and enjoy (SacsKids).
  • Perform miracles (seemingly) with nothing more than an improved attitude and behavior!  Some examples are:
    • Mr. & Mrs. B. (w/5 kids):  "The System makes parents consistent. The kids insist on it!"  Mr. B is an authoritarian parent, and a stepparent as well, while his wife is permissive.  This combination of parenting makes for frequent disagreements and arguments concerning parenting.
