I came up with this tune during my musical slow time in the 1980's or 1990's. I found that I was composing everything in a minor mode, and I thought I should try something in C major for a change. Since the name "dulcimer" implies sweetness, I guess the name is redundant. And since I now play a DAA dulcimer, it's in D, so the title is wrong, too. Sigh. This midi file has a very mechanical beat--I have trouble both getting the software to change tempo and consciously figuring out how the tempos change in the short run. If you play this on a real dulcimer, feel free to stretch and compress time as you see fit. Here is the tablature for the piece:
There are some differences between the Midi file and the tablature in how I pick some of the chords in the second half. Don't worry about it. By the power vested in me as Composer, I declare them both acceptable variations. Same with that really high chord at the end that I can play on my Folk Roots dulcimer, but not on Ginger, who has a few less frets. Let me know at petealway (at) aol (dot) com if you actually see fit to play it. I'd really be tickled pink if someone played this (or any of my other stuff).
