.X3 Flare Occurs 11.28.98 1700 UTC At around 0500 UTC this morning, a long duration X3.3 flare began. This major flare was accompanied by radio bursts and sweeps indicative of shockwave and coronal mass ejection activity. The region responsible is the one that has been approaching from the northeastern limb for several days now and had been looking so impressive. The region will be on the visible solar disk for several days, making additional major flares rather likely.
We will have an interesting time deciding
on what part of the current active region to leave in the center of the high
resolution field of view.
Potential short wave fadeout warning active. Potential Major flare warning is active. Potential minor coronal mass ejection disturbance anticipated for 30 Nov. Potential strong minor coronal mass ejection from major flare anticipated for 01 December.
