Villa Prat Roudoun

Villa Prat Roudoun is situated on the outskirts of the beautiful medieval village of Mosset, which is a 15min. drive from the town of Prades, in the Pyrénées Orientales. (see map) Prades itself lies at the foot of Mont Canigou, and is famous for its annual Music Festival, held at the end of July and dedicated to Pablo Casals, who made his home in Prades during his exile from Spain.

The house has two double bedrooms and two family rooms for 4/5 people, and is set in two acres of grounds bordering the River Castellane (trout fishing) at an altitude of around 2000ft. There is also a swimming pool, and horse-riding and donkey-trekking are available nearby. The area is ideal for walking, and in winter there are opportunities for cross-country skiing near the Col de Jau. The downhill resorts of Font Romeu and Les Angles are an hour away, as are the beach resorts of the Mediterranean. At nearby Molitg-les-Bains there are thermal and mud-baths and heated indoor and outdoor pools, as well as massage and beauty treatment facilities.

Mosset enjoys an exceptionally dry climate, with almost 300 days of sunshine a year. Spring is notable for the peach and cherry blossom, and the autumn colours are equally memorable.

Access is via the airport of Perpignan (1 hr.) or Toulouse, Montpellier and Barcelona (each 2½hrs.), and car-hire is available at each of these airports.

There are several restaurants in neighbouring villages, or an evening meal can be provided by arrangement.
