What began in 1996 as a simple project with my son who was then in the first grade . . . has come to an end in 2008 as that same son prepares to head off to his first year at college. I've reluctantly come to the conclusion that the time has come to close up the colorant shop. I have been contemplating this decision for the last few years but have never felt quite ready to actually go through with it. That changed recently when I received yet another letter from another long-time supplier advising of substantial price increases. I've received quite a few of these notices during the last year, but one particular supplier is now also increasing their purchase requirements. As a result, I will no longer be able to purchase the dyes in one kilo quantities . . . the minimum quantity is now 20 kilos. That's not a problem if you're talking about the pigments; however, that's a tremendous amount of dye and a huge financial outlay. Since I can't seem to find the motivation to begin the process of researching, testing and selecting new suppliers, it seems the decision to close up the business has been made for me. Currently, I have sufficient inventory on hand to meet expected needs for, hopefully, the next six months. My plan at this time is to simply continue selling my current inventory with the goal of closing up by the end of this year. Not much of a plan but it will do for now. Available inventory will be listed on the Order Page of this site. Orders can be
