The Research, the Notes, the Works of
Kathryn Newkirk Graham Presented and made possible by Dale Wing |
Very recently, my distant cousin, Dale Wing wrote to me
concerning the research of Kathryn Newkirk Graham.
For those of you who are not familiar with Kathryn, I need to tell you that her research regarding the Wing family was remarkable and until her death in 2000, she was THE expert on the Wing family. |
She did most, if not all of her research before the advent of computers.
She traveled extensively, pored over files and records that were nearly
unreadable, made reams of notes and transferred them into her own database.
It is largely thanks to Kathryn Newkirk Graham that so many of us know what we know today about the Wing family and our personal connection within that family. |
Kathryn was generous with her work too. She shared with our family
members much of the knowledge that it took her such long hours and arduous
study to assemble.
Dale Wing was one of the lucky recipients of many of the files that she had created with such care. Dale met Kathryn in what can only be described as a serendiptious encounter at an LDS Center in Utah where they were both involved in the search for family members. |
It has always been Dale's earnest desire to share with all of us the files that
Kathryn so willingly shared with him. Dale has his own website; WING FAMILY HISTORY
and it was on that website that he hoped to present Kathryn's work...but space was an issue.
That was when Dale contacted me and asked if he could "borrow," some space.
It was with great pleasure that I was able to respond that he could borrow all the space he needed. So, Dale collected the files, assembled them in a format that would work on my computer, sent everything in separate, meticulous files and I converted them to the website. |
One other thing, since some of Kathryn's work has been done, there are new things
that we do know. So, this is not to say that everything in these files is correct or complete by
any means. Secondly, these are only a portion of her files, she did not send Dale all of her
work. You will notice that some things and/or generations might be missing. Nonetheless,
it with great honor that I present to you the Incomplete Files of Kathryn Newkirk Graham.
I am working as hard as I can to get the files on this page...despite all of the great work that Dale did to send the files to me, it still takes some time to get them ready for the internet. These are some huge files. So, please bear with me and visit back frequently. |
