Aikido is a defensive martial art, developed by Morieh
Ushiba, where
the
practitioner blends with the energy of an attack rather than clashing
with the attacker. He then uses the attackers energy to throw or pin
the attacker. I hold the rank of shodan (first degree black belt) in
Aikido at Kure
Beach Aikido.
Essay: What is Aikido?
Here is an essay I wrote for my black belt test. It describes how
Aikido can be used in other ways besides physical combat.
