3.3 - ANALGESICS, OTIC (Rx)
(Antipyrine & Benzocaine in Glycerin - Auralgan)
INDICATIONS:
- Relief of the pain and inflammation of acute otitis.
DOSE:
- Fill ear canal, 3 - 4 drops, 3 - 4 times daily, up to every 1 - 2 hours as needed.
SUPPLIED:
- AURALGAN: Antipyrine and Benzocaine in Glycerin - 15 ml dropper bottle.
COST:
- Inexpensive, generically available product.
CAUTIONS:
- Not for the treatment of infection.
- Should not be used when ear drum is perforated.
COMMENTS:
- Patient should gently insert a cotton plug moistened with medication in the ear to ensure retention.
