Histories of Yesteryear
On a hill there stands a castle
all around are fields of green
Oh what enchantment fills me
gazing at this wondorous scene
Nearby stands a church so old
the stories it could tell
Histories of yesteryear
and present times as well
Thousands of couples married
vowing their love to share
generations of families
all join for weekly prayer
It`s the center of family life
treated with great respect
used as a general meeting place
for those who live near yet
A little path leads to the church
where many people walk
they gather together after mass
and love to and stand talk
Down in the village filled
with cottages so small
though the world around has changed
no changes here at all
It seems to me as though
time has just stood still
It stayed as of years ago
and I think it always will
A feeling of contentment
starts to fill my heart
as I visit this little place
that time has set apart
Memories come flooding back
and now or so it seems
when I go to bed at night
I return there in my dreams
these are more fond memories
