Report for Matches played week beginning 17th Feb (Reporter - Alex Rorke)

Cowplain Black, still leaders of Division 2, had another shock result last week as they were comfortably beaten 7-3 by SESA Neptune. BCA Blue, still holding onto second place even without Steve Long, failed to take advantage of this defeat as they too went down to close rivals Cowplain Red, 6-4.

Vosper Green’s promotion prospects took a dent as they had to fight to come out with a draw against Unison C&G. Three from Ryan Mustchin for C&G put them in the driving seat, but John Wildig and Peter Newman equalised the match by winning the doubles.

Meanwhile, in the upper half of the table, Hambledon opened up a two-point gap above Fareham Valiant thanks to an 8-2 victory over their rivals. Cowplain Orange, mid-table in Division 3, made leaders SESA Perseus fight all the way for the two points available. Colin Clark’s threesome for Perseus put them in a good position, but a good all-round team performance from Orange gave them a chance. Clark teamed up with Mike Thorne to take a comfortable doubles, winning 6-4.
