Welcome to the homepage of The Potomac Hosta Club, Inc., founded by Tony Welsbacher
and two of his friends in August of 1986. Our goal is to promote the development, use, and appreciation of the Genus
Hosta in the
Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The club now numbers nearly 300
members.
The club has regularly scheduled, nationally-renowned speakers
discussing hostas and their culture and appropriate
companion plants. Each year we hold a tissue-culture plant sale
for members in conjunction with the Spring Meeting. Additionally, we
hold several plant sales during the spring, summer, and fall.

To provide new members with ideas on how to use hostas in the
landscape we hold Open Garden Tours in Maryland and Virginia.
Each year in September we hold a club picnic, auction, and
plant exchange at a member's home. This also provides members with an
opportunity to learn about hostas, gardening and, at the same time, enjoy
the company of new-found gardening friends.
