Mother and Father Earth

"Mother and Father Earth"
36"x40"

This piece came about as a result of my habitual reluctance to paint landscapes. As a reflection upon the term "human landscape," it was suggestd by my teacher that I incorporate figures into the design so that it could go a step further.
"Mother and Father Nature" resulted from this suggestion. It was a very difficult piece to plan, and many revisions were made before I felt it worked on both levels: as a believable scene and as a figurative composition. I believe it represents the tenderness shared between a man and woman, and how this tenderness is as natural as Mother Nature herself.
