Gurdjieff Message Board
"Time is precious and should not be wasted on things that have no direct relation to your aim.
Remember where you are and why you are here.
Do not protect yourselves and remember that no effort is made in vain.
And now you can set out on the way." -- G.I. Gurdjieff

Although we have decided to shut down the Gurdjieff Message Board, we have kept an archive of the more salient and sane posts from October 1998 through February 1999 for your perusal. We can be contacted at darkecho@aol.com -- please put "Gurdjieff" as your subject. We are retaining this link to an article, The Shadows of Ideas, which provides some introductory commentary on G. I. Gurdjieff. We also recommend The Gurdjieff International Review for more extensive information on G. I. Gurdjieff.

About G. I. Gurdjieff

In 1912, G.I. Gurdjieff arrived in Russia from points unknown, bearing with him an extraordinary spiritual teaching drawn from ancient, secret schools throughout Asia. The teaching, which has come to be known as "the Work," is dedicated to awakening human beings to their unseen state of sleep and fragmentation and to the miraculous possibilities that await those willing to make the effort to wake up. Today the ideas and practices that Gurdjieff taught resound around the planet: through their influence on various philosophies and personalities; through their direct study in schools such as those fostered by the Gurdjieff Foundations; and through the media, including this board, which is itself dedicated to a discussion of Gurdjieff's teachings and their application to everyday life. On this board, we can communicate only with words; may the words we use here reflect our best effort to speak honestly, from our entire selves, mind, heart, and body.
