 Chemical Information Sources from Indiana University (CIS-IU) is a guide to Internet and other information resources in chemistry. It evolved from a class project in C402 "Current Topics in Chemical Information" during the Spring 1995 semester and from another Internet list produced at Indiana University, "Some Chemistry Resources on the Internet."

• RIDE RIDE (Resources In Distance Education) is located at Athabasca University and concerns the theory and practice of distance education. It provides a search engine for areas in distant learning topics for which to search the InterNet for further distance learning resources.

 

• Computer Based Police Training Individualized On-Campus and Distance Learning Applications.

 

• Heritage On-Line "Heritage OnLine" - 400/500-level continuing education courses for K-12 Educators from the Heritage Institute that integrate use of the Internet into the K-12 curriculum. Course credit is granted by Antioch University.

 

• Collaborative Online Research and Learning(CORAL). This course concentrates on Collaborative Learning techniques. As part of his senior seminar, Dr. Thomas Treadwell offers a Distance/Collaborative course between WCU, Cal State U at Long Beach, and Casper College in Whyoming.

 

• Distance Education Clearinghouse located at the University of Wisconsin Extension. This Web site links to all levels of distance education.

 

• League of Innovation in Community Colleges This is the Web site of the League that conatins the current and next conference place, date, and time.

 

• Maricopa Center for Learning and Instruction (MCLI) located at the District office of the Maricopa Community Colleges, Arizona, is considered a national model for motivating, infusing, and promoting innovation and change in the community college environment.

 

• Paper Using InterNet for Multi-media classroom materials The Internet is primarily used as an information system. While Mosaic, the newest Internet navigation tool, is easy to use, it can make a person feel lost among the information. This presentation will focus on how instructors easily create their own multimedia learning environments that contain links to Internet-based information, using only a simple text editor. Results are immediately usable on both Macintosh and IBM computers.

• Center For Distance Education located in Fairbanks, Alaska provides an on-line catalog that features more than 100 accredited correspondence courses for working professional students. The center is a division of the University of Alaska.

 This is a searchable database that you can use the words distance education and it will search up to 500 Web sources and display them in linked form so you can point to them. The only catch is that the number of possible links are over 800!! Oh Well.

 

• Athabascau University is what is referred to as an Open University open to all Canadians and completely on-line.

 

• National Teacher's Enhancement Network has a number of areas of interest to distance learning. It's main focus features in-service on-line courses for high school and community college teachers. It is headquartered at Montana State University. The National Teachers Enhancement Network offers graduate-credit science and mathematics courses to teachers nationally. Teachers are able to participate in the telecomputing courses from convenient home or work locations by dial-up modemconnections or Internet access. The Network provides teachers with high quality graduate science courses taught by university scientists, engineers, and mathematicians. It also enhances professional networking nationwide between science teachers and active research scientists.

 

• HTML Tutorial at Maricopa Community College. I have used this tutorial as my first lesson that led to the construction of these pages. Ten lessons all together.

 

• Yahoo's Education linkage is perhaps the most useful single sources of references for educators. Actually, the entire Yahoo Web Site is very useful for any topic. This one is an absolute MUST link in any list. The links are by subject and the number of sites at each listing are indicated in parenthesis.

 

• TeamNet Collaborative Distance Learning Projects sponsored by Los Angeles County School District. TEAMS Distance Learning is administered by and is a service of the Los Angeles County Office of Education. This is a site for classroom projects to be performed on-line.

 

• Education Direct Home Page EDUCATION DIRECT claims to be a world leader in Distance Learning.

 

• Academic Technologies For Learning

 This guide to Distance Education resources on the Internet was compiled by Dwayne Harapnuik and Norman Friesen for Dr. Terry Anderson, head of the new Alternative Delivery Initiative at the University of Alberta. This guide was designed to serve those involved in distance education on the post-secondary level.

 

• Univ of Conneticut Web Development Lab This site takes about 5 minutes to load because of the extensive graphics. However once loaded it has a number of very useful links. It has a WWW Home Page Workshop as well as a Virtual Classroom

• LeCroy Center For Educ. Telecommunications at Dallas Community College District.They specialize in tele-conferencing and Instructional Television.

Sections of this site deal with Virtual Reality systems in the classroom as well as other forms of distant learning.

• Foundation of International Tutoring- Will gear up for operation in Aug. Anyone who would like to function as an on-line tutor or anyone needing a tutor are welcome to apply at this site.

 

• The QFORM and QSCORE on the Web. This is a way of developing Multiple Choice questions and scoring them via a Web site. Very interesting.

 

• Collaborative Learning This is the web site of the Learning Through Collaborative Visualization Project (CoVis). Today, CoVis is comprised of thousands of students, over one hundred teachers, and dozens of researchers all working together to find new ways to think about and practice science in the classroom.

 

• NOVA Southeastern University It has an extensive InterNet Navigator.

 

• There is a course being taught for teachers called "Computational Chemistry. They are using Cray computers for lab calculations. Please contact Bob Gotwalls for further details.

 

 

• Distance Learning Initiative This is an Italian/Hewlett Packard joint sponsorship all the way from Italy, the land of gondolas!!

 

• Eric Clearinghouse on Reading, English, and communication. Of particular interest is the distance education materials and the new Internet course materials found at this site. Steve Stroup is the User Services Coordinator for the ERIC Clearinghouse On Reading, English, and Communication.

 

• Miami Bible Institute This institution offers theological courses and degrees via the InterNet. Our thanks to ProfG1@aol.com for alerting us to this distance learning institution.

 

• Dallas County Community College District This site is the Home Page site of one of the largest and most prolific Community College systems in the United States. It has seven campuses plus Telecommunication Center. Three of the seven campuses have their own home page sites, Richland College , North Lake College,Brookhaven College,Cedar Valley College, El Centro College, Mountain View College,
