The Society publishes its official international journal, which will appear quarterly from 2002, and a newsletter already available since July 2001. PTID will also publish medical professional books on very current research and clinical findings on the health effects of tobacco use, for clinicians and researchers. Other publications of the Society include health educational brochures, pamphlets, posters, audio-visual tapes and websites for both public and professionals. Additionally, members receive the Current Awareness, a quarterly list of current literature from national and international periodicals on all aspects of tobacco hazards.

Subscription to the Newsletter and Current Awareness are at no cost to members.

Members also benefit from considerably reduced fees when ordering the Society's journal or any other professional publications. Non-members, libraries and institutions can subscribe to the Society's publications at regular fees.

Tobacco Induced Diseases is an official, international journal of the Society, published and distributed directly by the Society's Dept. of Publications. This journal publishes peer-reviewed:

  • Original scientific research and clinical advances in identification, specific diagnosis, and prevention of tobacco-induced and/or –worsened diseases of humans,

  • Experimental Studies,

  • Review articles based on comprehensive and objective analysis of non-industrial literature on crucial issues of special importance within the aims of the journal,

  • Short communications reporting results that have significant relevance and scientific impact,

  • Book reviews,

  • Contemporary news items, and

  • Exceptional commentaries on major events related to health policies.

All these include advances in tobacco-related research in the areas of:

The Journal's scope is rapid publication of original scientific papers that are part of the advancing frontiers of tobacco addiction prevention, submitted by scientists whose works are not committed to the industrial interests. Papers done on behalf of a tobacco industry or based on a grant by a tobacco facility or a related institution will be rejected without being reviewed.

Subscription:

Active members of the Society can subscribe to Tobacco Induced Diseases at a considerably reduced price, which is 60% below the individual non-member rate. Members will receive notifications for subscription per e-mail.

PTID-Newsletter is an internal periodical of the Society, aiming at rapid communication with all members. It contains information on topic-related happenings, member news, calendar of events, meeting reports, specialty section activities, and new literature availabilities. Subscription to PTID-Newsletter is free of charge for members (included in the annual membership fee).
