Netley Abbey
- Hampshire - (English Heritage)
This is a ruin of a13th Century Cistercian abbey which was converted in Tudor times for the use as a house, it is free to visit too. I'm led to believe there are ghostly figures that drift around these ruins, only I never saw them on my visit. The abbey is in the village of Netley itself, 4 miles south-east of Southampton on a back road off of the A3025.
On the day of my visit, there was preparation for a play that evening, the Merchant of Venice, hence the boarding you can see at the very bottom of this photo, I can imagine it would have been good.
