50's Girl Costume

What you'll need.

Scarf
White socks.
Saddle shoes, penny loafers or white sneakers.
Pastel colored short-sleeve blouse or angora sweater
Long skirt with Poodle applique sewed or ironed on.
You could even pin on a paper poodle if you want.

Poodle skirts were the big thing for girls back in the 50's. You can use any long skirt or buy a long skirt from a thrift shop or yard sale. The poodle skirts are very simple to make. They are literally a circle with the waist and hem finished, and a Poodle applique sewed or ironed on. Any sewing store has lots of patterns.
Wear a pastel colored short-sleeve blouse or an angora sweater. Now get some white bobby socks & saddle shoes or penny loafers or white sneakers, Put your hair up in a ponytail and hold it with a rubber band. Add a little red lipstickand and some eye shadow. If you don't have lipstick you can make some makeup from the recipe on this web site. Add a scarf to your neck and you're in business! Chew gum, be bubbly & sweet, and say things like, "Gee, this sure is a swell party." If you have an old 45rpm record box you could use this to collect candy in.
