National Quilting Day Sew-In Project - Mystery

Fabric Requirements
(finished project 20" x 30")

March 16, 2002 is National Quilting Day, and one of our favorite designers, DotTquilt, has put together a great little mystery project to sew!!!  It's a combination of piecing and appliqué, fun, and most of all, anyone can do it!  This will be a 5 part mystery.

1 yard "sky" fabric (Clear blue with clouds?  Hand-dyed with lovely "spring day" gradations?  Oh, the choices!! )
1/2 yard border fabric (1 yard if you are using a one-way print)

1 fat quarter (18" x 22") of "wood" fabric, or any type of brown color that reminds you of wood

1 fat quarter of solid black (or other black fabric with a "velvety" look to it)
1/8 yard each (or scraps) of two blue solids (darker than the background sky fabric described above) for 2 bluebirds (or make them any other color you wish!)
1/8 yard each of several scraps of pastel prints or small scale floral prints, including 2 green scraps and a "grassy" green fabric scrap approximately 3" x 7".

A 3" scrap of ribbon in a color that coordinates with your prints

Fabric for binding and backing (remember, it's 20" x 30")
1-1/4 yards of 1/4" wide white bias tape (fusible, plain, or make your own appliqué strips)

Green embroidery floss or a green thin permanent fabric marker
A piece of thin batting approximately 25" x 35"
Optional items:  A small jingle bell and two tiny black buttons

Step One Tulips, Log Cabin, Flying Geese
