Above is a small hand sized "paint cup" or hand mortar. Found at Clayton Farm in Whitman decades ago.

Maine Bone

rare bone fishing arrowheads or harpoons found in a shellheap on Hog Island,Maine, ex Ernie Cowles...these are very fine and nice,select grade examples... some are somewhat flat in cross section,almost identical to the ones in the illustration below. These have been found on archaeological digs in shellheaps on the Maine coast in association with flounder and scalpin remains,bones...probably late woodland period...check out the illustration as to probable hafting method,and note how rear point acts as a barb!.}

Two museum quality bone arrowheads from a shellheap on Hog Island,Maine...1 7/8"long. These are extremely fine,delicate,rare bone artifacts and the only way they survive are in the shellheaps...}
