Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) are among the best known
programs for recovery. They are known as 12-step programs. Such programs are
based on spiritual concepts. Advantages of these programs include their wide
availability with free meetings in most all communities. Local meetings can easily
be found by calling organizational numbers in the phone book.
Many web sites are available. The General Service Office website of AA offers
an overview of AA. Online Recovery Resources
lists the 12 steps and other elements of the AA philosophy. It includes an on line copy of
the Big Book (one of the most important pieces of AA literature). It
also has a listing of on line meetings and chats.
Narcotics Anonymous has a
site supported by their World Service Organization.
