Cairo is now at the Rainbow Bridge. She died on April 30, 1999. I was fortunate enough to have been there when she left, holding her head in my lap and scratching her ears, just like she always liked. I know Cairo would have wanted some of this information to stay on the internet, because she did feel strongly about many issues. So, we are keeping her web page, and continuing to provide you with links that were important to Cairo.

Cairo has left an empty space in many people's lives and hearts. She was in incredible ambassador for the mastiff breed, and a true and worthy friend to me. She will never be far from my thoughts and will always be in my heart.

Beyond The Rainbow

As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played,
I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade.
I saw a wondrous image then of a place that's trouble-free.
Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity.
I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, and on the other side
Were meadows rich and beautiful - lush and green and wide!
And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see
Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be!
My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new
And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do.
I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I'm all right
That this place is truly wonderful, then a bright Glow pierced the night.
'Twas the Glow of many Candles shining bright and strong and bold
And I knew then that it held your love in its brilliant shades of gold.
For although we may not be together in the way we used to be,
We are still connected by a cord no eye can see.
So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart
If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart.

Rio and I make a very handsome couple, if I do say so myself. He and I have already created some very nice puppies together! Our persons, Chris and Connie, did tons of pedigree research, including Deb Jones' pedigree computer program, to determine that our puppies would be wonderful, and they are. My daughter, Ch. Chris' Sandriver Apache Tear, is co-owned by Michelle Vick, Connie Gard, and Chris. Look for her in the future - they intend to special her! She is just a baby, not even two years old, but she is already a Champion, just like me!

Here is a photo of Apache taking Best of Opposite Sex at the Burbank shows this year, under judge Dorothy Hutchinson (thank you, Judge Hutchinson!)

As of September 12, Apache took a 5 POINT MAJOR at the Prescott shows, under Judge Helen Lee James!!!! Thank you, Judge James!

I am very excited about my babies. But, more importantly, Chris and Connie have done the best for all my babies by seeing to it that Rio and I have been genetically tested. This is very important, and it is something that we all need to pay close attention to! PLEASE don't buy a puppy that isn't from tested parents! It isn't fair - to you, or to the puppy. Thanks for letting me be on my soapbox for a moment.  It is a very important subject to me.

Some links which I think are important are below. Having been tested myself, I strongly believe in testing for genetic predisposition to certain conditions. As a mastiff, I strongly urge all people who belong to mastiffs to help them get the testing necessary to insure their soundness BEFORE they find a mate and have a family.
