NOVEL: THE KEESHONDEN MURDER

(a work in progress)

by Roger B. Baskin

Ruth Kaplan was a professor of history at Brandeis University. She also owned a Keeshond named Max Bialystok, after the Zero Mostel portrayed character in the Mel Brooks movie the Producers. The Producers was one of Ruth Kaplan's favorite movies and Zero Mostel one of her favorite actors. In the movie Max Bialystok and Leo Bloom (portrayed by Gene Wilder) attempt to rip off old ladies by getting them to invest in a certain Broadway flop produced by Bialystok and Bloom called Springtime for Hitler.

Max Bialystok was handled by one of the great handlers in the United States, Benjamin Stein. Mr. Stein was not only a great handler but a person of unquestioned integrity. With Ben Stein handling, Max Bialystok keeps winning and winning. He becomes the number one Keeshond in America.

Then tragedy strikes. There is a murder at a dog show. The Keeshonden Murder is about the murder. A Who Done It? That is all I am willing to share. The book will be an entertaining, interesting, and informative. I don't know when I will complete it. However, when I do, I hope people will run to their book stores and purchase The Keeshonden Murder.
