Only 48% of elgible Americans bother to go to the polls and vote on election day. Clearly, neither party is doing or saying what is needed to energize and inspire most Americans.
Today, the typical middle-class family pays more in taxes annually than it spends on food, clothing and shelter combined.
Flat Tax: Dick Armey: "The centerpiece of my bill, a 17%
Flat Tax, reduces the individual income tax payments of virtually all Americans
and also makes everyone's taxe simpler and fairer.
We are back to the question that bothers us very much. Is
the 17% flat tax that a working mother pays for a loaf of bread more or less
of a burden than the same 17% tax payed by a millionare for a new car?
Equal percentages doesn't mean equal burden.
Flat Tax: Studies show that a flat rate of 17% with generous
personal and family deductions will save the typical American family as much
as $1,000 per year. In fact a family of four would pay no federal income
tax at all on the first $33,800 of income.
Deductions can always be manipulated by politicians. Our
program, which has no deductions, will result in any family earning $50,000
or less paying no Federal Income taxes.
Forbes: I will not walk away from the fight to dismantle
the Washington political establishment and take back our government from
the career politicians and bureaucrats who've corrupted it!
We find it hard to understand how Forbes is going to change
human nature. The founding fathers struggled with this problem when they
wrote the constitution and that is why they gave us the Bill of Rights. Our
plan could be called the 11th Amendment to the Bill, a protective barrier
against excessive taxation of workers and seniors.
QUOTE: Thomas Jefferson"To preserve our independence, we must not let our politicians load us with perpetual debt. We must make our choice between economy and liberty, or profusion and servitude. If we can prevent the government from wasting the labours of the people under the pretense of caring for them, the people will be much happier.
QUOTE: It seems that everytime Congress sets out to trim the budget, the knife slips and trims the taxpayer instead.
QUOTE: These days it is hard to believe that America was founded to avoid high taxation.
