Kathleen Macferran, conductor

Kathleen Macferran, Conductor and Music Director, is one of the few professional female conductors in the Northwest, performing, on average, fifteen concerts per season. Kathleen is the founder of Rainier Chamber Winds, and serves as the group's executive director as well as its conductor. She was among nineteen conductors chosen from the United States and Germany to conduct in the Oregon Bach Festival under the direction of Helmut Rilling in 1989, and one of seventeen conductors chosen to attend the Sandpoint Music Festival under the direction of Gunther Schuller in 1991. She has conducted the Eastside Youth Symphony and is active as a guest conductor in the Puget Sound area, appearing with the Bainbridge Island Orchestra, the Bainbridge Island Chorale, and the Washington Wind Symphony. Kathleen appears on the Delos recording label with the Seattle Symphony Chorale. Her background also includes teaching instrumental and choral music, and adjudication experience. Kathleen Macferran
