Mary Ann Kleopfer 1855-1939


May Ann (Kleopfer) Trinkle was born in California in, 1855. In 1860 she and her parents (Jacob and Maria) moved from California to Jefferson County Indiana. She was married to George Trinkle. They had one son named Louis who owned a grocery in Madison. They also had three other children who died in infancy. Mary (Kleopfer) Trinkle died in 1939 at the age of 84. She is buried at Zoar Cemetery.

Her obituary reads as follows:

Mrs. George Trinkle Died This Morning at Home of Son on Walnut Street

Mrs. George Trinkle passed away at 11:30 o'clock this forenoon at the home of her son Louis Trinkle north Walnut Street. Her death following an illness which was attributed to complications and from which she had been bedfast for the past two years.

The decedent was a native of California, but lived in Jefferson County and in this city the greater part of her life. She was formerly Mary Ann Kleopfer , a daughter of the late Jacob and Mary Kleopfer who for years were well known county residents. Mrs. Trinkle was 84 years of age and was a fine Christian character, winning the love and esteem of all her knew her. She was the center of affection in the home where she resided and her presence in the family will be greatly missed. Mrs. Trinkle was a member of Zoar M. E. Church and it was her delight to attend all church services so long as her health permitted. She was the Widow of George Trinkle who preceded her in death having passed away on January 16th, 1939.

Surviving are an only son, Louis Trinkle, Walnut street grocer; two grandchildren Orville Trinkle of Louisville, Ky. ; a granddaughter, Louise Trinkle of Kansas City, Missouri; two sisters , Mr. Charles Schults of Cincinnati, Ohio; Mrs. Elizabeth Clever of this County, three brothers, Jacob Kleopfer, Charles Kleopfer, Louis Kleopfer and William Kleopfer , all residents of this county.

The funeral arrangements are in charge of Undertaker J. O. Taff of Hanover, and at present time are incomplete but will be announced later.

GEO. W. TRINKLE DEAD
Services for Prominent Retired Farmer to be Held Saturday.

George W. Trinkle, 88 years of age, died this morning at 3:00 o’clock at the home of his son, Louis Trinkle, Walnut street grocer. He had been living with his son since becoming ill several days ago, but prior to that time had maintained his home at 520 Walnut street.

Mr. Trinkle was a retired farmer and was widely known throughout Jefferson county. He had been living in Madison for the past 12 years.

Surviving is the widow, Mrs. Mary Trinkle, his son Louis, two grandchildren, Louise of Kansas City, Mo., and Orville, of Louisville, and two great grandchildren. Three children died in infancy. He leaves also three brothers, Harvey and Louis of this county, David of Indianapolis, and a sister, Mrs. Kate Wallace of Deputy.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:30 o’clock at the Zoar M. E. church and burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the Taft funeral parlor in Hanover until the time of the services.
