This is one of my favorite appetizer recipes. I like to make them ahead of time and freeze them. The recipe comes from my good friend, Christine (DmstcEngr@aol.com). Cheese Puffs 1 large white bread, unsliced -- cut in 1" cubes 1/2 pound sharp cheddar cheese 1 cup butter 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard 1/8 teaspoon garlic salt 4 egg white In double boiler, heat cheese and butter until melted. Add mustard and garlic salt. Beat egg whites until stiff and fold into mixture. Dip cubes in. Place on greased cookie tins. (Place in freezer now if you wish to store them). Cook for 15 minutes at 400 until golden. NOTES : Freeze on cookie sheet then put in Ziploc bag for extended storage. When you take the puffs out of the oven, take them out of the pan as soon as you can. If you leave them in they get tooo mushy on the bottom. Return to Appetizers |
