Irish Red and White Personality
This breed is a close working hunting dog in the field, since they prefer to
be near you and they should always be within gun range. The breed
is just as much at home in the show ring or on the couch and adjust to
any speed while always remaining elegant. Being in thehouse
has no effect on performance in other events. Proper performance will not be
attained through use of a heavy hand. A firm consistent method is best.
They are calm rather than excitable, make excellent house dogs, are easily traned in the field,
show, or obedience. They love affection, are sturdy, strong and elegant and
when they know what you want, will be happy they pleased you.
The breed has its own particular personality, similar to many, yet distinctly different. Temperament affects personality, and is quoted here from our standard: "Displays a kindly, friendly attitude behind which should be a discernible determination, courage and high spirit".
