Dec 29 2007 - Charleston.net reports: Fans of CSI: Miami can see it now: Lt. Horatio Caine, the protagonist forensics cop played by veteran actor David Caruso, lowers his dark shades, tilts an eyebrow and — on cue — delivers one of his trademark hammy one-liners. Only in this case, instead of "Book 'em," he'll say, "Rack 'em." Caruso is among the cast of celebrities scheduled to be in Charleston next month to help promote the game of pool and raise money for ovarian cancer research by attending the inaugural Chix with Stix Teal Tournament, which is expected to feature some of the top female players in the game. The venue is the Francis Marion Hotel. Proceeds from the Jan. 18-20 event will benefit the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (which will have local nutrition physician Anne Kultze and other docs on hand to talk about the deadly disease) and Charleston's Center for Women. Spectators will be able to bid to run the table against celebrities including Caruso and CSI: Miami co-stars Emily Proctor and Eva La Rue, as well the ever-perky Kelly Ripa, co-host of Live with Regis and Kelly. The event also will feature trick shot exhibitions, luncheons and clinics for would-be pool sharks. Log on to www.chixwithstix.net for more details. Dec 29 2007 - PR-USA: What's the perfect accessory for an $8,500 snow-leopard print Escada Couture gown? That was the question for the organizers of a recent photo shoot for CBS Watch magazine featuring CSI: Miami star Emily Procter. The actress, known to millions of viewers as Calleigh Duquesne on the hit TV series, played up her Southern roots on the shoot, posing with a limo and chauffeur at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in the extravagant black-and-white dress; and since a well-to-do Southern belle would likely be accompanied by an impressive pooch, the call went out for a dog to match. But where to find a black-and-white Great Dane with the training and style for such a deluxe setting? Why, Hollywood Paws, of course. The L.A. animal-training academy had recently graduated Bogart, a Harlequin Dane with a spotted coat that was a perfect match for Procter's high-fashion dress. Owners Daniel Will and Judy Searing-Will were naturally delighted that their dog was hired for the shoot, but they were concerned that the location - the hotel's bustling valet entrance - might prove distracting for Bogart. Thanks to Paws trainer Joel Norton and sufficient prep time, Bogart proved as natural a star as his namesake, executing a number of stellar shots - including a final kiss with Procter. The gorgeous series of shots looks simple and natural, but the Wills, Norton and Bogart know that even the most basic production with animals requires ample preparation and training. To see if your pet might be ready for his or her close-up, visit www.HollywoodPaws.com. Dec 29 2007 - From Variety.com ... Eric Johnson, who stars as Flash Gordon on SciFi Channel's “Flash Gordon” said of the 'book I'm reading': ”Acting for the Small Screen” by David Caruso. I really bought it for the cool pair of sunglasses it came with. Dec 29 2007 - Paloma Raquel, nearly 9 lbs., born Oct. 16 to CSI: Miami star David Caruso and girlfriend Liza Marquez. She joins big brother Marquez Anthony, 2, as well as sister Greta, 23, from David's prior marriage. Dec 29 2007 - Parade magazine: Q Your item on Emily Procter made me wonder: Why do she and the other women on the CSI shows, such as Marg Helgenberger and Melina Kanakaredes, choose to show so much cleavage? A “You don't really think we dress ourselves, do you?” asks Procter. Costume decisions lie with the producers and wardrobe staff, who seem to follow the philosophy “the deeper the cleavage, the higher the ratings.” Dec 29 2007 - Check out a 4-minute video/interview with the cast of CSI Miami at A&E TV called: CSI - Secret of Success. Nov 28 2007 – Rolling Stones' guitarist Ronnie Wood said to Melodika that although he's a fan of the CSI franchise, he turned down an offer to appear in it. The 60-year-old English rock star declined an offer made by CBS for him to fill in a guest stop on one of the three CSI shows. He said that the role was a safe cracker, however he declined the offer based on the experience of another rocker, Roger Daltrey, founder and lead singer of English rock band The Who. Daltrey previously filled in as a guest star in the episode "Living Legend" from CSI's season 4. "I saw Roger Daltrey do a guest appearance - he said it was all too much," Ronnie Wood explained to Virgin Radio. "No time to rehearse and he had to play five parts. I said no, I didn't really want to go in like that." Roger Daltrey's Mickey Dunn required him to wear a variety of prosthetic disguises, however Wood did not verify if his cameo appearances would be as complicated as Daltrey's. "They wanted me to be Uncle Ron the safe cracker," he said. In addition, he also did not reveal on which CSI franchise he would have appeared in, however many believe that he was supposed to be guesting on CSI: Miami, because Ryan Wolfe (Jonathan Togo) had already mentioned an Uncle Ron on season 3's "Crime Wave." Also, in "Darkroom" of season 5, Wolfe had also mentioned that his uncle had been a safe cracker. However, it has not been clarified it the two uncles were one and the same man. Wood wasn't completely hesitant as he said he'd be welcoming future guest role offers on CSI if there was a London-set edition of the forensic drama series. Nov 27 2007 - OK magazine said CSI Miami's Emily Procter doesn't have to wait until she is in Miami to shop at her favorite store Intermix. She had quite the shopping spree at the Intermix in LA buying a sequined Elizabeth & James dress (the Olsen's line), a pair of jeweled $1,000 Valentino pumps and a Robert Rodriguez metallic, black pencil skirt. Emily obviously shows her love for metallics and shopping!! Visit the link for a photo. Nov 26 2007 - Elizabeth Berkley is joining CBS' crime drama "CSI: Miami" as a recurring character, according to Yahoo News. She will play Julia Winston -- former wife of Horatio Caine (David Caruso) and the mother of his recently discovered teenage son, Kyle (Evan Ellingson) -- who becomes part of an investigation when her billionaire husband is murdered. Berkley has guest-starred on the mothership "CSI" series, "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," which spawned "CSI: Miami." Nov 25 2007 – Sofia Milos reports on her Website that she has a new series - "THE BORDER is the new high action drama, in which I co-star with James McGowan and Graham Abbey. My character is a homeland security special agent Bianca La Garda. A strong, intelligent and fearless woman. From a Cuban father and Italian mother, immigrated to the US at age 10 and now a proud American. The show deals with Canadian/US border issue inspired somewhat from headline stories. The Border is executive produced by Peter Raymont, who just won an Emmy for his documentary SHAKE HANDS WITH THE DEVIL and Brian Dennis. Creative producers are David Barlow, Janet McLean and Sarah Dodd. CBC international reps the televised series for worldwide distribution. It will premiere in Canada first on January 7th, Monday at 9pm !!!! Nov 23 2007 - Blogcritics reviews the seventh season DVD set of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. An excerpt: CSI is currently in its Eighth Season and shows no signs of slowing down. The show and characters continue to mature and improve. The Seventh Season was extremely well done and is one of the best in its history…. CSI is deeper than a simple crime drama and Season Seven raises the bar even higher. It is intricate and smart. There is a lot going on at any one time with characters and storylines that continue to evolve. The writing, directing and acting combine to create something unique. It is hands down the best forensic crime drama on television and sets the standard for all others to try and live up to. Nov 23 2007 - Baltimore Sun: ... Variety reported that during a visit to Los Angeles in October he [Obama] met with a group of Hollywood supporters to recruit volunteers to campaign in Iowa and appear in campaign commercials. The group included Harper, Jamie Foxx, Kal Penn, Sharon Lawrence, Wilmer Valderrama, Laura Prepon, Adam Rodriquez, Jonathon Schaech, Henry Simmons, Kelly Hu, James Van Der Beek and D.B. Woodside, Variety reported. Nov 21 2007 - TV Guide reported: Question: Horatio and Calleigh, who used to work so well together, have had two scenes together, each less than a minute long, in the past 26 episodes of CSI: Miami. Can you please enlighten us exasperated fans as to what happened between David Caruso and Emily Procter, because we're not buying this "scheduling conflict" bulls--t anymore. — Ausiello: Two scenes in 26 episodes? Is that true? Wow. Let me get TV Guide's Research Department on it do some digging and get back to you. This has "killer blind item" written all over it! Nov 21 2007 - Curledup.com reviews "The Poet's Corner," a CD setcompiled by John Lithgow. It "is an answer to a poetry lover’s prayers, as it contains some of the world’s best poetry in the English language spoken by some of the best actors alive today, and by people like the former Poet Laureate Billy Collins, who enlivens any poem he recites and makes it magically his own. Some of the performers who lend their voice talents to the poems include Jodie Foster, Kathy Bates, Morgan Freeman, Gary Sinise, Lynn Redgrave, Susan Sarandon, and Sam Waterston. In addition to the poems, the entire text of the book is also included on the six CDs that make up the six and a half hours’ worth of entertainment you get with this audio compilation. This makes it a pretty good deal for the money, and it’s great to listen to in the car on the way to work, the store, or to pick up the kids from school. It’s also a great way to get children interested in poetry and to make it come alive for them. While I really liked the poems, in general, chosen for the compilation, and the dramatic readings of them by the voice talents who feature on these CDs, there are a few ways they could have been improved – mainly a listing on the CD jewel case of the poems, the poets who wrote them, and the names of whomever recites each, and having a little pamphlet enclosed with the same and possibly additional useful/interesting information would have been a pleasant addition. Still, the CDs are not difficult to navigate and use. While all of the voice actors do a very good job with the poems they recite, some stick out as highlights for me. I really liked, for example, Gary Sinise’s recitation of the Ginsberg poem “A Supermarket in California,” Kathy Bates’s reading of Marianne Moore’s “Poetry,” and Billy Connolly’s recitations of “The Owl and the Pussycat” by Edward Lear. Nov 19 2007 – Emily Procter talked about an episode to TV Guide. … ballistics expert Calleigh Duquesne is threatened at gunpoint and nearly run over by a bad guy's car. "Of all the shows we've done, this one was definitely my favorite," Emily Procter says of her big episode. "For years I've had the feeling of, 'How come the boys get to do all the fun stuff while Calleigh has to stay home in the lab?' I was so glad to finally get my due!" The episode heats up when Calleigh, off duty and boozed up on mimosas, spots trouble in a sporting-goods store where a murder just occurred. As the assailants attempt their getaway, they see Calleigh and assume she's just another pesky bystander. Turns out she's a force to be reckoned with. "Calleigh is faced with a fight-or-flight decision and we really get to see what she's made of," says producer Marc Dube. Adds Procter, "We've always known Calleigh could get aggressive at the interrogation table, but here she gets physical out on the streets. It's so cool!" Not to mention painful. Procter, 39, who opted to do her own stunts, got banged up during production. "Apparently it does hurt to dive onto pavement and roll out from under a car," she says. "I have bruises all over and cracked the tip of my finger." Read the rest at the link above. Nov 19 2007 - Lumino Magazine says of CSI: Miami and its season five DVD set…. David Caruso plays the over the top Caine, a character that you either love or you hate. If you aren't familiar with his character go onto YouTube and look for edited clips of Caruso. Each week Caruso puts on his sunglasses, places his hands to his hips and delivers these silly one-liners to the camera. Like I said, you'll either love him or hate him. None the less, CSI: Miami – The Fifth Season has hit the shelves bringing us all 24 episodes and a health collection of special features. This season had its share of great storyline that started off huge with Caine and fellow CSI Eric Delko heading down to Rio. This is a plot from last season to seek out gang lord Antonio Riaz for the death of Caine's wife and Delko's sister, Marisol. The episode looks beautiful in part because it was filmed on location in Rio and was perfect to start off the season. READ rest of review at link above. Nov 18 2007 – Adam Rodriguez appeared in the 61st Annual Mother Goose Parade which was held on Sunday, November 18, 2007 at noon on Main Street in El Cajon, CA (San Diego County). Eva LaRue will participated in the event. Nov 13 2007 - SMH.com says of CSI: Miami… Not surprisingly, of the trio of CSI programs, CSI: Miami is the one that polarises viewers the most. There is a popular video doing the rounds on YouTube of David Caruso's famously cheesy one-liners that he delivers week in week out in this flashy forensic soap opera. As Lieutenant Horatio Caine, the top cop on this Florida beat, Caruso chooses to dispense his words of wisdom deadpan, usually with a flourish of his designer sunglasses. …. it seems it all comes back to the appeal of the lead. Detractors of CSI: Miami, who refer to the show as CSI: Caruso or CSI: Horatio, say the show is simply a vehicle for the carrot-topped star's ever-increasing ego, while diehard fans wouldn't have it any other way. Nov 11 2007 - Pocketgamer UK reviewed the CSI: Miami game from Gameloft. “This game is based on the middle sibling from the series, the David Caruso vehicle, CSI: Miami. Some may not appreciate the sauntering monotone of Caruso's acting, but this mobile outing certainly makes the most of its licence. The likeness of leading man Horatio Caine (Caruso) is dead-on, assuring you this isn't some sort of half-hearted cash-in on the TV brand; this really is CSI the mobile game in suitably big, bold, trademark-using fashion.” … “Being a pure adventure game, anyone looking for high-speed chases or shoot-outs should investigate other titles. For those that stay, CSI: Miami sees you freely making you way between various locations using the map screen. Each location consists of a static screen you can scroll around using your cursor. When you come across something that needs to be examined more closely – a body, for instance – the view zooms in, and again the cursor is used to sift out evidence.” … However, while you're still working your way through the mystery, CSI: Miami is an interesting, very well made adventure that will thrill any fan of the TV series and just as easily captivate those unfamiliar with it. Even Gil Grissom and Mac Taylor aficionados, who'd much rather have seen a game based on the other CSI offspring, should relish this.” Nov 05 2007 - SMH.com reports who donates to which politician: Donors to Hillary Clinton: Martha Stewart, Jerry Springer, Joely Fisher ('Til Death), Khandi Alexander (CSI: Miami), Maura Tierney (ER), Jon Tenney (The Closer), Bradley Cooper (Nip/Tuck) and Marg Helgenberger (CSI). Nov 02 2007 – Khandi Alexander is one of several celebrities listed under “California Rising Supplying Hollywood With Green, Hip Fashion” at Ecorazzi.com. “Today we take a look at California Rising, a 100% organic and sustainable shop that caters to both sexes, but started out with an emphasis on the guys. Let's just say it appears the ladies have caught on to their cool styles as well. Celebrities enjoying the brand include Amber Valetta, Khandi Alexander, Rachelle Carson , Carnie Wilson, John Salley, Ryan Seacrest, and others. California Rising also provided all the tees for the 2007 “Green” Emmy Awards and made a splash at the last MTV Video Music Awards in Vegas. Nov 01 2007 – In an article on Latin characters on TV at the L.A. Times, it said … Similarly, "CSI: Miami" can't rely on Adam Rodriquez to carry all the español on his broad shoulders. The show is based in a city where most of the population is fluent in Spanish and not necessarily in English. But some of the language is so mashed that those of us who do speak Spanish could still use subtitles. Horatio, ayúdanos! (help us!) REST at link above (requires free registration). Oct 26 2007 – The New Zealand Herald profiled Eva LaRue who 'had all but given up on her acting career when fate intervened, landing her a dream job on CSI: Miami. The former beauty queen, who plays trainee crime scene investigator Natalia Boa Vista, left the soap opera All My Children in 2005, and resigned herself to not acting again. "There's a season here in Los Angeles called pilot season, from January to March," she says. "It's when all the hopeful, new wannabe series are shooting their pilots. "Actors come from all over the place and deposit themselves in LA for three months and try to book a new series for the following year." READ the rest of the article at the link above. Oct 25 2007 - Roadrunner listed a wide range of celebrities who turned out for the SEX PISTOLS private club show for fans Thursday, October 25 at The Roxy in Los Angeles: all of VELVET REVOLVER, Gavin Rossdale (BUSH), Mark McGrath, Josh Freese (THE VANDALS, NINE INCH NAILS, DEVO, A PERFECT CIRCLE), Clem Burke (BLONDIE), Phil Collen (DEF LEPPARD), Lemmy (MOTÖRHEAD) and Cisco Adler (WHITESTARR) plus actors Ewan McGregor, Naveen Andrews ("Lost"), Danny Masterson ("That '70s Show"), Bijou Phillips, and Jonathan Togo ("CSI Miami"). The packed gig was made possible by Indie 103.1, Guitar Hero III: Legends Of Rock and Helio. Oct 12 2007 – From JRJ.com: Although Rummy could not see the adoring audience outside of the Hollywood & Highland Center in Los Angeles, Calif., his tail wagged with excitement and pride. Today, with the help of actress and pet lover Emily Procter ("CSI: Miami," "West Wing") Rummy, a two-year-old Siberian Husky, was named the grand prize winner in the Rally to Rescue "Doing More for Pets" Rescue Stories Contest. Rummy was originally found blind, bald, starving and infested with potentially deadly parasites. Today, Rummy not only has a new look -- he has a new leash on life, and is taking $5,000 worth of Pro Plan brand pet food back to Husky Haven, the Houston, Texas rescue organization that nursed him back to health. "I''m thrilled to be a part of this special day and to provide Rummy with the recognition he deserves," said Emily Procter. "His story is so heart-warming, and I''m in awe of his unwavering spirit and courageous achievements. It is such an honor to help spread the word about all the pet finalists here today, and to acknowledge the amazing people who rescued them." You can read more at PRNewswire.

A spokesperson for the show has confirmed back in July that "[Rory Cochrane] will be reprising the role of Tim Speedle and it's not a flashback…he will be interacting with his old partner and friend, Eric Delko." If you want to know the rest of the spoilers, click on the link. Oct 03 2007 - If you watched Miami's premiere this season, then you saw the ads USA Today talks about in this article. CBS aired Cadillac ads through the evening of CSI: Miami's season premiere. CSI: Miami star Adam Rodriguez next to a red Caddy CTS. He proclaims the night "The Cadillac of Premieres." CBS' marketing agency Initiative also created a program of information about CBS shows and about the redesigned 2008 CTS for packaging on USB flash drives and viewing on a computer. The drives were included with subscriber copies of the Sept. 21 Entertainment Weekly. "We liked the (joint promotion) because it draws attention to our program premieres," says CBS Marketing Group President George Schweitzer. "Together, we're both pushing the message out there for CBS and Cadillac." The New York Times went into more depth about the advertising campaign, adding "There will also be a premiere event next Wednesday, at which stars of the five CBS Monday series are to share the red carpet with the CTS. And a cast member of “C.S.I.: Miami,” Adam Rodriguez, will be paired with a CTS in five promotional spots to be interspersed among the premiere episodes of the CBS Monday shows on Sept. 24. The campaign, which has about as many facets as a Tiffany diamond, indicates what automakers and networks now believe is required to break through the clutter each fall, when the new automotive model year and the new TV season arrive simultaneously." Oct 03 2007 - HispanicBusiness.com reported that Eva La Rue was one of many celebrities attending the first year anniversary of its signature show “Mi TRL” on September 13th. On September 20th, “Mi TRL” welcomes Latin pop sensation RBD and special guests Jimmy Smits and Eddie Matos from “Cane,” and Eva La Rue and Adam Rodriguez from “CSI: Miami.” Oct 03 2007 – CSI Miami producer Corey Miller hinted that fans will see the fingerprint and drug identification expert dealing with the aftermath of his brain injury when season 6 airs on September 24, said BuddyTV. In the last season of CSI: Miami, Eric Delko, portrayed by Adam Rodriguez, was shot in the head and was nearly killed from a shootout with men hired by Clavo Cruz. Following various revival attempts and tense surgery, he survives but struggles with memory loss and the frustration of relearning the basics of his work with the Miami-Dade Crime Lab.According to Miller, Eric's injury is a life-altering event for the character, making it very difficult to go back to the way things were before. "This turn of events will affect him for the rest of his life," Miller told the official Yahoo group for Adam Rodriguez. "Brain injuries have been called a silent epidemic, with so many people suffering in silence, misunderstood," the CSI: Miami producer explained. "What we have been able to learn through our research is that people with these types of brain injuries will never be the same as they once were. With proper medication and care, some semblance of the person's former life may be restored. But they will never look at things the same way again. Completing what used to be mundane tasks may now be a huge struggle. And no two injuries are alike, because the brain is such an amazing, complex organ." READ THE FULL article at the link above. Oct 03 2007 – Better late than never. CSI Miami won an Emmy for Outstanding Stunt Coordination for the episode, “Rush” at the 59th Creative Arts Emmy Awards were held on Saturday, September. “Rush” was the 20th episode in season five. Oct 03 2007 - BusinessWire reports that Gameloft, a leading developer and publisher of mobile games, announced today a worldwide multi-year, multi-game agreement with CBS Mobile to develop, publish and distribute games based on the hit television series “CSI.” The first game, based on “CSI: Miami,” will launch in the U.S. September 24th and be available in 140 countries in the months thereafter. “CSI: Miami” will be developed by Gameloft and CBS Mobile in concert with Anthony Zuiker, Executive Producer and Creator of “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” bringing a high level of involvement and direction from the show's creative auspices. The mobile game will be especially designed to capture the gripping storylines, look, atmosphere and intrigue that infuses each episode of “CSI: Miami.” “We are thrilled to welcome CBS as a partner and look forward to a long term relationship,” said Gonzague de Vallois, Vice President, Gameloft. “The CSI franchise set the bar for primetime crime drama television by engaging viewers on all levels. The mobile games will expand the CSI storyline into a fun and interactive experience.” “A mobile game adaptation of a CSI series is the perfect complement for a franchise with a fan base that watches the show with such a high level of engagement and interest in interactivity,” said Zuiker. “We are thrilled to join forces with Gameloft and are confident in their expertise to capture the essence of CSI and translate it into a quality mobile game.” “This is a new quality level of cross-platform development. By involving Anthony Zuiker, the creator of CSI, directly in the mobile game development, we will create much more than just a 'brand extension' of the CSI franchise. This is what we call true 'platforming' of content,” said Cyriac Roeding, Executive Vice President, CBS Mobile. “Gameloft is one of the best mobile game developers in the world, and we're pleased to add them to our growing list of best in breed partners. Gameloft truly thinks 'mobile' when creating games – that matches CBS Mobile's approach.” The “CSI: Miami” game” will launch with most major carriers today, coinciding with the 6th season premiere of “CSI: Miami” on CBS. The new game will enable players to immerse themselves fully in the “CSI: Miami” drama – allowing them to step into the role of lead investigator, collect evidence at the crime scene and interrogate suspects. By selecting the menu page on your phone and accessing the games folder, you are then able to select “CSI: Miami” to purchase. Follow the onscreen instructions to download the game. Oct 02 2007 - Adam Rodriguez has a busy fanbase, and the best place to find news on him is to join this Group. Oct 02 2007 - Check out Yahoo's site on Miami here where you can find neat videos of the cast. Aug 23 2007 - E.W. points out that Sesame Street has its season premiere on August 13th on PBS Kids, and says…” A Muppet with an uncanny likeness to David Caruso leads the ''RSI: Rhyme Scene Investigation'' skit, and viewers are encouraged to test their own rhyming abilities.” Aug 20 2007 - Communities.canada.com has a great article entitled "In praise. Of David. Caruso." David Caruso is regularly lampooned for his mannered performance as Lieut. Horatio Caine on CSI: Miami, but I'm addicted to the series and wish to praise the man and his work. Consider him not as a dandified cop but as a laconic guardian angel (Anthony Zuiker, who created the CSI shows, describes Horatio as “the great protector”). The CSI: Miami ad below (which was produced in-house by the people at Showcase, thereby demonstrating that a good idea is worth more than a big budget) captures Caruso's appeal to a tee. You need to visit the link above to access the ad, which is really great. Aug 20 2007 - CFMnews previewed Rory Cochrane's new film Right at Your Door, about multiple 'dirty bombs' going off in Los Angeles. Martial Law takes over and all residents not directly in the danger zone are forced to seal themselves up in their houses. Brad (Rory Cochrane) is forced to seal his wife Lexi (Mary McCormack) outside as she might be infected. Cochrane said the 2007 Comic Con that "... it was extremely difficult, (to play complex emotions day in and day out). I think Mary has more emotional scenes than I do, but it was hard to do it every day and to keep that level of emotion going". The film opens on August 24th. ***** The Hollywood News site has a long interview as well as online trailer with Rory regarding this movie. Aug 17 2007 - The Aspen Times reported that many Aspinites were eager to be on TV when CBS' Early Show taped from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. at Wagner Park. Emily Procter appeared briefly at that taping. Aug 08 2007 - BuddyTV reports that 22-year-old Jessica Szhor of ABC's What About Brian will join the cast as "a young and feisty Audio Visual Tech Specialist named Samantha Barrish." Aug 08 2007 - The season five DVD set of CSI: Miami will be released on Tuesday, October 30th. Aug 07 2007 - BuddyTV reported that "If there's one cartoon character that can compare with Calleigh Duquesne on CSI: Miami, Emily Procter believes that it's Velma, the resident genius of the mystery-solving quartet on Scooby Doo. Additionally, the 38-year-old actress has also compared other characters from the CBS procedural drama series to the other characters in the animated show. "You know, CSI is really just Scooby Doo," Procter said. "Without a doubt, I'm Velma. 'Everyone get in the van! We gotta go! Quit fooling around!' and Horatio [David Caruso] is Fred, and Alexx [Khandi Alexander] is Daphne-she even wore the head scarf!" Read more at the link above. Aug 01 2007 - From the Sun Sentinel: Q. I agree with the reader who said he couldn't understand the garbled speech of the blond actress on CSI: Miami. Did you ever sit through a complete episode without squirming in your chair and finally switching to another channel? I think not. Be honest with yourself and the people who help you keep your job, the audience. A. Oh well, at least Emily Procter isn't British. This is the last time we will deal with this issue. How do you watch a complete episode while switching to another channel? More to the point, because of the letters complaining about Procter, I have made it a point to check for difficulties understanding her dialogue. She might not have the diction of Professor Henry Higgins but this fair lady doesn't deserve so much criticism. I have a problem picking up some dialogue — it happens as you get older — so I will not make light of your difficulties. But these are our problems, not hers. Oh, and thanks for my job. Jul 23 2007 - TV Guide drops this little bombshell - Ausiello Report - Scoop: CSI: Miami Exhumes Rory Cochrane - I'm not quite sure how they're going to pull this off, but sources confirm that Rory Cochrane is returning to CSI: Miami this fall – three years after his character was fatally shot in the line of duty. Cochrane – who asked to be released from his contract back in the summer of 2004 because "he couldn't really handle the grind anymore" – will appear in multiple episodes, beginning with this season's second. On CSI: Miami, David Caruso has an assistant with blond hair, Emily Procter. I can't understand much of what she says. Does she have a speech impediment or should we report to the hearing doctor? A. The only consolation I can offer you is the knowledge that this is something I have been asked about numerous times, so you have a lot of company. Procter's speech is fine. I got no such inquiries when she played Ainsley Hayes, a Republican in a Democratic White House in The West Wing. She also is a former weathercaster. Feb 2007 - NYSun reports that "CSI: Miami" is now the world's most watched television program — according to both the BBC and Reuters. Skip the big theories about "CSI: Miami," however, and you're apt to run into a different kind of reaction. This is a show, like its star, David Caruso, that sharply divides critics. Last month, Vanity Fair's James Wolcott took a swipe at Mr. Caruso's "macho-moron empath perversion of the Dirty Harry mystique," along with his "overstated understated acting" — a judgment with which I had to concur based on the number of times I'd walked into the living room and heard Mr. Caruso's voice (my wife recently became addicted to the show) delivering line readings as if he were suffering through a supremely boring script read-through. They continue to think of the David Caruso Sunglasses of Justice chronicle as a serious procedural drama. Come on. It can't be. I think the cast and writers must be parodying the somber CBS procedural format on purpose. They have to be, right? That much wooden acting, predictable plotting, glitzy but empty production values and seriously bad punning has to be in service of a wickedly subtle parody. Right? No, really, they know it's one of the funniest shows on TV, right? Read the rest at the link above. Jan 10 2007 - Bangor Daily News reports that Khandi Alexander narrates the Myths and Legends series on TV Land, which airs at 10:00 p.m. The six-part series "... tackles such weighty questions as who really inspired Carly Simon’s No. 1 hit "You’re So Vain," did "The Beav" die in the Vietnam War, was "Gong Show" host Chuck Barris a CIA assassin and did Cass Elliott of the Mamas and the Papas die by choking on a ham sandwich?" Jan 09 2007 - Emily Procter is slated as one of the presenters at tonight's 33rd Annual People's Choice Awards, shown on CBS at 9:00 PM ET. Dec 29 2006 - The New York Post said of Emily Procter at the VH1’s Big In ’06 awards held earlier this month: "CSI: Miami star Emily Procter’s ’06 highlight has been playing Auntie Em. “A lot of my friends had babies. I’ve been on nighttime duty for the last couple of months. I’m tired,” she sighed “Not as tired as they are, but I’m pretty tired!” We don't blame her, especially considering her long days on the set and fitting in gigs with her ’80s cover band White Lighting in between. She’ll be even busier in ’07, producing and starring in—playing a double role, no less—an independent movie called Dollars. “It’s a country music noir movie. It’s about two sisters called the Dollarhydes,” she explains. “It’s about ambition and talent and lack of talent and greed and lack of greed. I play both sisters.” Procter will wisely rest up for the holidays, taking off for the tropics after a Christmas visit home to North Carolina. “On New Year’s Eve at midnight I’ll have on my bathing suit and will be sitting in the warm water,” she confided. “I don’t want to say where, for fear of people catching me in that moment!" Dec 27 2006 - At Hampton Roads.com, they list the best and worst of '06, and CSI Miami gets a mention. "BEST SOUTHERN ACCENT – Emily Procter on “CSI: Miami,” CBS. It’s for real. She’s from North Carolina." Dec 23 2006 - ContactMusic reports that Rolling Stones rocker Ronnie Wood has reportedly been offered a cameo role in CSI: MIAMI. Wood landed the guest slot when CSI: Miami castmembers Emily Procter and Adam Rodriguez turned up at his art exhibition in Hollywood. Proctor and Rodriguez bought some of the star's paintings, and invited Wood to the set of the investigative crime series when they discovered he was a fan. A source tells British newspaper Daily Telegraph, "Ronnie was over the moon: CSI is his favourite TV show." Dec 23 2006 - DVDTalk reviews the Complete West Wing DVD set. Emily Procter starred in that series. An excerpt: "The role of the White House Counsel is woven into the stories and seen through the eyes of a wonderful new character Ainsley Hayes (Emily Procter). After cleaning Sam's proverbial clock during a televised debate program, the President takes notice and instructs Leo to hire her immediately, something that proves interesting considering she's a Republican. Far from a gimmick device, Ainsley serves to add balance to the series, reminding both the audience and some of the more intense members of the administration that Republicans are just as intelligent and well-meaning as Democrats. They simply believe in different solutions to complex problems. This addition to the cast is never pandering and frequently elevates an already great show, echoing the wisdom of Isaac Jaffe: "If you're dumb, surround yourself with smart people. If you're smart, surround yourself with smart people who disagree with you." Dec 11 2006 - Check out the January 2007 issue of Marie Claire - They've got 'sexy' morgue shots from CSI: Miami of Caruso, Togo and Procter, and perhaps more. Nov 14 2006 – Last night's CSI: Miami was based on a real life murder mystery. CSI Miami actor Eva La Rue saw a poster composed of many missing women, possibly victims of serial killer Bill Bradford, who worked as a photographer during the late 70's, early 80's, and took pictures of women looking for stardom. A perfect venue, authorities say, for someone looking to stalk young women. She spotted her own sister's picture on that poster. The CBS news magazine 48 Hours has been investing the the case. The pictures sparked interest among the producers of “CSI Miami,” who based one of this year's episodes on this real life case. An episode Eva La Rue says was difficult for her to do. Just this one scene showed to me that this is going to be much harder an episode than I thought," said La Rue. An emotional attachment to a role La Rue never though she would have to base on a real life ordeal La Rue and her sister Nika were fortunate to not have anything happen to them, but there are several cold cases that are still unsolved. Authorities are hoping people will look at these pictures that were recently released to the public, to help them bring closure to some of those cases. La Rue believes she, too, had been photographed by Bradford as a teenager for a local modeling talent hunt.” That information was incorporated into the “48 Hours” episode as well as the CSI: Miami episode “Dark Room.” CSI: Miami has been working with L.A. police and will both link to the poster in case viewers have info on any of the women pictured. It was planned that 48 Hours precede CSI: Miami for maximum exposure. Read more at the link above. *** You can read more about the real case at CBS News. Oct 16 2006 - Just some listing of new sites that have been added to the links page. I'm catching up with mail, so if you'd like your CSI site listed, just email me and I'll see what I can. Put "CSI Link Submission" in the subject line so it doesn't get lost in my many, many pieces of email! ;) Adam Rodriguez at YouTube Oct 12 2006 - Q&A with CSI: Miami's David Caruso: David answered some questions for Canada's entertainment magazine, Playback. Caruso said that he was living in Miami at the time he was offered the role in CSI: Miami.... "[I] had opened a small clothing business that had become the butt of some jokes on the Howard Stern show. [CBS president and CEO Leslie Moonves] was watching the movie Proof of Life, and had remembered me from a small part I had in the film. Somehow the dominos fell into place and he thought of me for Miami." He believes that Miami is the most popular of the three series because "The key to it is the city of Miami, because it's truly an international place. Our mission is to capture the authenticity of the city, and I think we've struck a chord that connects with viewers because you get the international flavor, the international feel." When asked which was his favorite Miami episode, he replied "It's tough to beat the Brazil episode [where Horatio pursued his wife's killer]. There's such a level of magic to that hour." Oct 03 2006 - Miami's 100th episode scored a 5.7 preliminary national rating in adults 18 to 49, a number that includes live viewing and same-day viewing via digital video recorders, according to Nielsen Media Research (source:http://www.tvweek.com/news.cms?newsId=10841). This helped make CBS the top-rated broadcaster in adults 18 to 49 Monday. Oct 02 2006 - CSI: Miami's 100th episode was profiled on Entertainment Tonight. Caruso thought the 100th episode was "rewarding," even though it feels like they just started the show. E.T. hung around the 100th episode party. Even Jerry Bruckheimer was surprised the show was so successful. Oct 02 2006 - The entertainment trade magazine Variety covered CSI: MIami for its 100th episode in several special articles available online to subscribers (some free) at Variety.com. There were several articles, and here are some excerpts:
- Bold locations, rich production values seduce auds by Chad Gervich. "...while the show's lead character can't seem to catch a break, "CSI: Miami's" real love affair is the offscreen romance between the series and the city itself." Miami Vice used stark neon on highlight Miami, while CSI "bathes Miami in deep, rich hues. Reds are fiery and vibrant; greens are lush and cool; sunlight sparkles through every opening." ..."When we started shooting," says co-exec producer Sunil Nayar, "my sense of the city was the more glamorous nature of it -- the beach and the sports teams. 'Miami Vice' was the closest my experience of Miami (came), so I went early to get a sense of the city. I had no idea, both in geography and urban layout, how diverse it really was."
- From Florida to Frankfurt - Spinoff's not only an Eye opener but a global phenomenon by RIck Kissell & Steve Clarke. Creator Anthony Zuiker was meeting with producer Jerry Bruckheimer and CBS topper Les Moonves, all glowing over the success of "CSI," but, also, pondering how to expand the franchise beyond its original premise. ... And thus "Miami" -- with its South Beach gloss, Latin vibe and endless beauties -- was born. ... Earlier this year "CSI: Miami" was named as the most successful TV show on global screens as well, ahead of international juggernauts "Lost" and "Desperate Housewives." ... According to a study by London-based media research outfit Informa, the skein that features the exploits of David Caruso and his team of medical investigators was the most successful TV show worldwide in 2005.
- Older and wiser, post-'NYPD' Caruso matures - 'CSI' star was the breakout star of Bochco's '90s skein by Stuart Levine. His flaming red hair exploded off of every newspaper and magazine cover in 1993, when David Caruso was the breakout star of the new TV season in the ABC cop drama "NYPD Blue." ... "The show was going to be about David," says "Blue" producer Bill Clark and a former NYPD detective. "He was No. 1 on the call sheet." But it all went south quickly. Caruso wanted a bigscreen career, his ego got the best of him, and after only one season, he was off the show. And now, thanks to people such as Les Moonves, Anthony Zuiker and Ann Donahue, he's back with a new attitude, another hit show and creating a new legion of fans who have no idea of where he's been and how he got here. ... Although his film career floundered, Caruso's turn in "Proof of Life" stuck with CBS topper Moonves. When it came time to cast Lt. Horatio Caine -- who first appeared in the mothership "CSI" series but was always intended as the lead character for spinoff "CSI: Miami" -- Caruso was one of everyone's top choices for the role. "I met with the senior producers of 'CSI,' and it immediately became obvious to me how much I wanted to work with them. They were telling really unique stories and creating such a hypnotic world, one that you can't walk away from." ... "He didn't look like a leading man, but he had leading-man intensity," recalls (TV critic) Sepinwall from "Blue's" first season. "He had those odd readings, the way he would tilt his head. ... Caruso is the classic example of the actor who does one thing but does it really well. That intense 'I'm going to do whatever it takes to get the bad guy' persona. He stays within that range, and people dig it." That intensity can sometimes take his fellow "Miami" actors by surprise, as they all say he's one of funniest people on the set. And they all agree that he's a real pro when it comes to moving production along and making sure everyone's doing their jobs.
- Donahue schooled by TV's elite class - 'Miami' showrunner learned from previous tube work by Jon Weisman. Donahue's television writing career began on "21 Jump Street" (co-created by Cannell), and within a few years, Donahue was moving up the producer ladder on "Picket Fences" (Kelley), "Murder One" (Bochco) and "High Incident" (Spielberg). The list of shows is quite a gamut to run, but the run leads right to Donahue's approach to her current show. For example, the quirky, serialized "Picket Fences" doesn't bear much resemblance to "CSI: Miami" -- but where the twain did meet, Donahue drew lessons. "From David Kelley," Donahue says, "I learned to say, 'Why not?' If it's been done once in the real world, let's get a story out of it. Even if things are being worked on in universities in research and development, it's always, 'Why not?'" ... "Organization, organization, organization," Donahue says, was Bochco's mantra. "That's the way to produce. There's a great phrase: 'There are no mistakes made in production; it's all pre-production.' "From Mr. Spielberg, I learned to use a visual. Whenever you can use a visual in place of a word, use a visual." ... It is Donahue, then, who was instrumental in distancing "CSI: Miami" from the original "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," has adapted her character-influenced background to the demands of a procedural show for 100 episodes and has kept the series from getting stale.
- Working-class neighborhood - F/x team is housed next to writers, ensuring efficient turnarounds by Karen Idelson. "What makes us unique is that our visual effects department has gone in-house," says "CSI: Miami" visual effects supervisor Larry Detwiler. "On this show we're right down the hall from the director and the writers and can talk to them instantly about anything that's going on. It makes things a lot more collaborative and easier in terms of getting the look that's wanted for the effects." ... On "CSI: Miami," the visual effects team reads scripts and consults closely with everyone from the writers and camerapeople to props on how they can create the conditions that will result in the best effects for the show.
- 'CSI' cast Quotebook by Jerry Rice. Several questions were asked, but here are the actors' response to "Where do you want to see your character go this season?" Khandi Alexander: "I would like more gore. I wasn't a big fan of that when I first started because I had never worked on a show that was graphic in terms of special effects. When I cut open a body, it should be exactly what a body and organs look like. One of my favorite things about the whole 'CSI' series is the blood and the gore." Rex Linn: "I hope they put me in a position in the workplace that somehow challenges me to compromise my integrity. I'd like for them to explore my character a little bit more." Emily Procter: "Calleigh is a lot more physical, and I'm getting to do stunts and be more of a cop. I feel like she was pretty much just in the lab last year. I guess where I'd like to see Calleigh go is outside." Jonathan Togo: "I'd like to continue to examine the gray zone of the character -- someone who's so ambitious that sometimes he acts not entirely morally appropriate."
Oct 02 2006 - Emily Procter was on today's Regis and Kelly, discussing her days as a weathergirl (she was surprised she lasted as long as she did) as well as discussing how she performed the stunt in one episode in which Calleigh's car is run off the road into the water. First, she swam around, then the director added 'splashing,' then asked if she'd liked to dive 16 feet down to the car to act out an escape. She said she couldn't hold her breath that long, so they took ten minutes for her to learn how to use a SCUBA regulator and then did the scene. Sep 23 2006 - Several CSI folk will attend the LondonExpo convention in London UK on October 28-29. Actors from "Miami" include Boti Bliss and Joe Flanigan (guest star on "Slow Burn" episode and currently starring in Stargate Atlantis). Sep 19 2006 - CSI: NY tripped over a real corpse while filming, and now the Miami Herald reports that CSI: Miami had a 'floater' wash up just yards away from where a film screw for the popular series was filming. They were using using Bicentennial Park as a helicopter staging ground for aerial shots. ''It's very unusual,'' said Miami Sgt. Joel Gonzalez, the officer who was led to the body. ``A crime scene on the scene of CSI.'' The dead man was found three days after police found a mummified body inside a building in Los Angeles where CSI: New York was filming. Neither death is considered suspicious. The Miami man had no signs of trauma. An autopsy will reveal his cause of death. Gonzalez, a former homicide detective, works off-duty security for the show whenever it films in Miami. About 6:30 a.m., a homeless man walked up to Gonzalez to tell him he thought he spied a dead man. Several yards away, Gonzalez found the man floating face down, dressed in dark clothes at the water's edge. He called uniformed patrolmen and homicide detectives. The man's name was not known as of late Friday. ''Unfortunately, it's not unusual during certain times of the year that people who have fallen in the bay, either homeless or people who were asleep or in some cases boaters who had a mishap, fall into the bay and turn up days later,'' said Miami Detective Delrish Moss, a spokesman. The cop drama, starring David Caruso, was shooting aerial scenes for a fictional Miami-Dade police investigation that occurs on a boat off-shore. Caruso wasn't there. His stunt double was. Aug 08 2006 - All three CSI shows are profiled on the August 7-13 (US) TV Guide, with Carmine Giovinazzo, Eriz Szmanda and Adam Rodriguez on the cover. Adam is spending his hiatus between seasons traveling - Australia, Venezuela and Morocco, plus they're filming the season premiere of CS: Miami on the sunny beaches of Brazil, where Delko and Horatio hunt down Marisol's killer. "Eric and Horatio struggle a lot in Brazil, so it bonds them," says Adam. As part of his own goal to become more disciplined, he's writing poetry, taking guitar lessons and learning how to make sushi. Although he says he's like "short-attention-span theater," his passion for acting has never left him. He laughs off his new sex symbol image (co-star Eva La Rue says he's "got this boyish charm." What's in store for Delko in the new season? "Delko's going to curb sowing his wild oats and settle down one girl," says Ann Donahue, "but it backfires and he spends the rest of the season choosing between his career and the girl he thought was the future Mrs. Delko." Aug 08 2006 - In a Kingston Whig-Standard article on My Name is Earl and Trailer Park Boys, entitled "Television gets dumb and dumber," University of Western Ontario professor of media studies Keir Keightley says both shows are very focused on the question of class, but that "[With My Name Is Earl] there's a weird sense of spirituality at play," Keightley says. "There's an attempt to rectify things in a world that seems to be spinning out of our control more and more." From that perspective there's a lot more depth to Earl than your average episode of CSI: Miami. Indeed, one might say there's a subversive quality to the program." Aug 02 2006 - CBS has announced the fall premiere dates: CSI - September 21st; CSI Miami - September 18th, and CSI NY - September 20th. Jul 17 2006 - Emily Procter was featured on the front cover of the July 17th (US) TV Guide. TV Guide interviewed the actress at her mother's home in Raleigh, North Carolina where her parents (divorced but still friends) spoke at lenth about their daughter. Her mother Barbara says "There was this time at the mall when Emily was a toddler and just took straight off. She was so indepdent, I decided to follow her and see how far she'd go. Well, Emily just kept walking and walking and never turned around to see if her mama was watching her. I knew then that girl was going places." Her father Bill said "The night Emily kciked Rob Lowe's ass was the the night I knew she was in the big leagues," he said of her role on West Wing. Whereas her character Calleigh keep a tight vise on her emotions, costar Jonathan Togo says "We've taken to calling Emily 'the Tomato' around the set because she's like the best and sweetest part of the salad... she's easygoing and wonderfully eccentric." She's well known for her odd collections of preserved bugs and more than 200 cobalt-blue books she keeps in her L.A. house. As for season 5 of CSI: Miami, Calleigh finds herself in charge while Horatio and Delko pursue Marisol's killer down to Brazil. Calleigh will have to deal with inter-office politics and being involved in a car accident. However, perhaps this year she'll be luckier in love. "We're introducing a detective Calleigh first met when she was in the police academy," says Ann Devine. "The backstory is, they didn't like each other at all but, this is being Miami, he's sexy, of course. And Calleigh's sexy. And sexy things happen when sexy people get together." Meanwhile, Procter herself is happily involved with another actor, although she declines to give his name. ***** Also, CSI: Miami hits the big 100th episode. Producer Elizabeth Devine teases "We're going to have a really good opportunity for Horatio, someone who's almost playing with the CSIs. He thinks he's smarter than them." Meanwhile, Calleigh's father will defend a 'really bad guy' and Ryan Wolfe will make a mistake with an informant that has repercussions. Jun 15 2006 - Bunch of news on Adam Rodriquez. May 18 2006 - The May 22nd TV Guide leaks tidbits on the final episode of season four. Executive producer Ann Donahue hints that Calleigh is among the not-so-unusual suspects. The episode 'goes deeper into Calleigh's past,' she says. 'Pillow talk ends up in a federal investigation.' Donahue adds "When we find out who the mole is, it's going to break apart the whole group." As for next season? Looks for the possible return of Yelina. May 11 2006 – The Canadian newspaper Globe & Mail talks about how CSI: Miami has pushed past the 'middle child' syndrome to emerge a worldwide hit. “The variations on the theme clicked with viewers and CSI: Miami quickly found a devoted following on Monday nights and the public acceptance helped usher in the second spin-off, CSI: NY. Now nearing the end of its fourth season, CSI: Miami has evolved into a respectable property for CBS, with regular showings among the top-10 programs in the U.S. Nielsen ratings. At the same time, its ratings profile south of the border is inadvertently dwarfed by the original series the most-watched show on all U.S. network television and it likewise falls short of the astounding viewership numbers of American Idol, Lost and Desperate Housewives. There's no question American viewers are partial to CSI: Miami, but in current TV terms, it remains an unassuming hit.” Read more at the link above. May 01 2006 - Week of May 1st - CSI segments all week on The Early Show on CBS - Emily Procter was on today's Early Show. Emily talked about how body parts are made out of food (skin is made of wanton paper), and a leg in tonight's episode was made of ham. Emily couldn't reveal a lot, although said that the mole is coming up, Horatio gets married, "we're going to lose a couple of people," which will be divulged by the end of May. Viewers will find out who the mole is, two people will die and "we'll be on our way out of the country," all in the next four episodes. She joked that it would be nice if it were Hawaii. When prodded about who dies, Emily was prompted off-camera by someone not to talk ;) Emily plans to spend ten days in Italy, and unfortunately time ran out, so couldn't complete what she was saying about vacation (I think she meant she'd probably work instead). Apr 18 2006 - TV Guide lays out the May sweeps. May 22: On the CSI: Miami season finale, the mole in the lab is revealed. Apr 17 2006 – What's the most popular show in the world? According to CNN, it's CSI: Miami. Yes, the show is a “ratings smash from Berlin to Bogota, from Paris to Pretoria. Outside the United States, "CSI: Miami" tops "Lost," "Desperate Housewives" and even the original "CSI" to rank as the most-watched U.S. series around the world,” according to the Hollywood Reporter. "In a funny way, we are more resonant in the foreign markets than we are domestically," Caruso, 50, said in an interview at the MIPTV market, where producers sell their wares to foreign TV stations. "That's why I think it is very important to come and connect with the journalists here and viewers here because our relationship with the larger landscape is here." Miami ranks No. 12 so far this season among U.S. viewers aged 18-49, according to Nielsen Media Research. ("American Idol" takes the top two spots, followed by "Desperate Housewives," "Grey's Anatomy" and "CSI.") The drama is currently in its fourth season. Germany, Europe's largest TV market, provides a typical example of how the "CSI: Miami" machine has conquered foreign lands. The show launched to record ratings on cable channel Vox in 2004 before being nabbed by Vox parent channel, and market leader, RTL. "CSI: Miami" is now the No. 1 series in Germany. Apr 17 2006 – Ever wonder where CSI Miami gets its alligators for the show? Read the Indystar article on Jim Brockett and his wife, Gina. For 30 years, they've “run Brockett's Film Fauna in Thousand Oaks, Calif., renting out bugs, snakes and other creatures to film studios. While their pet dog, Sparky, gets his bread and butter from the television show "The Gilmore Girls," the Brocketts also provide alligators for "CSI: Miami" and rats for countless movies' sewer scenes, as well as supplying the industry with other slithering or scampering actors.” Read more at the link above. Apr 15 2006 - CSI: Miami will have a marathon on A&E's new high definition channel in September 2006. Apr 15 2006 - Fangoria reports that Rex Linn is one of many celebrity guests at the June 2-4th FANGORIA's Weekend of Horrors convention at LA's Burbank Airport Hilton (2500 Hollywood Way). Click on link for full text. Apr 15 2006 - The JSOnline talks about ten actors who can steal scenes - "Shamelessly and consistently, they divert attention from those around them by sheer force of talent. Some are promising newcomers to the art of larceny, while others have rap sheets as long as your arm. The following 10 miscreants are hereby found guilty of grand theft television and sentenced to a lifetime of roles worthy of their gifts." Emily Procter was listed. "An oasis of cool-headed calm in an often overheated drama, Procter's ballistics expert, Calleigh Duquesne, holds her own against such formidable personalities as her boss, Horatio Caine (David Caruso), and the flashy felons who keep Miami law enforcement busy. Calleigh's soft, almost girlish voice belies her intellect, experience and insight; when she says something, it's a good idea to listen. From 2000-'02, North Carolina native Procter brought a similar mix of Southern manners and tough-minded intelligence to White House aide Ainslie Hayes, a lonely Republican among the Democratic minions of "The West Wing."" Apr 15 2006 - Worldscreen reports that "Irish entertainment network Channel 6 has reached a deal with Alliance Atlantis for the rights to the hit CBS dramas CSI and CSI: Miami. Channel 6 will air the first two shows in the CSI franchise beginning with season one. "CSI and CSI: Miami are global sensations and drama fans around the world are addicted to them both," said Michael Murphy, the founder and director of programs at Channel 6." Apr 15 2006 - Chicago Tribune reports that Chicago Mayor Gavin Newsom's divorce is final, and he has been romantically linked with actress Sofia Milos, who plays a detective in a recurring role on "CSI: Miami." Apr 14 2006 – So much for avoiding spoilers. Besides CBS showing it all during their commercials, the New York Post also spills the beans on Horatio's upcoming nuptials. In the May 8th episode, Horatio walks down the aisle with Marisol (Alana de la Garza) after months of keeping their love a secret from her brother - his underling - Eric Delko (Adam Rodriguez). The plot is: : a Paris Hilton-like socialite turns up dead when she's electrocuted in her bathtub during a party. And, despite the happy nuptials, the show ends with a cliff-hanger with Horatio in danger. Mar 06 2006 - CSI: Miami has been renewed for a 5th season. Mar 06 2006 - A reviewer at TBO said after watching a tense hour of 24, he likes to "unwind with one of CBS' funniest series: CSI: Miami." The writer cited that when David Caruso begins 'channeling' Joe Friday from the old Dragnet series, "he is downright hilarious." However, the spinoff does have its share of gruesome, violent crimes and sexy women, concludes the article. Read more at the link above. Mar 06 2006 - Sun2Surf profiles David Caruso, citing how he went from the successful NYPD Blue series to a number of feature films that failed at the box office, to the highly successful CSI: Miami. His character of Horatio Caine is haunted by the deaths of his mother - killed by a drug dealer when he was 17 - and the murder (well, that's a whole 'nother story) of his brother Raymond, an undercover narcotics officer. Caruso said "The world of CSI is a completely new world. Because we are explaining the scientific process, it requires a totally different discipline as an actor…. What I mean by that is, in a normal police or dramatic situation, we are allowed to give way to emotions and instincts. In this case, a very specific set of discipline and restraint is needed in order to allow the scientific process to follow through… Having said that, you can still allow an opportunity for your humanity to seep through." Some quotes from the article include a comment on his sunglasses. "One of the things people are picking up on is how I use my sunglasses. Sunglasses are designed to speak to the viewers in a subliminal way. I use them to tell the viewers who I think the killer is." As well as his clothing. "I like nice clothes. Some of the things I wore were brought in by me. I came on the set one day in my sunglasses and Prada shoes and they've stayed for my character. In my personal life, I don't look as good as Horatio Caine does, though I aspire to." Feb 03 2006 - AVP Beach Volleyball Tour stars Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh will be featured in the February 6 episode of CSI ("Skeletons") according to a Press release. Other AVP players featured in the episode include Olympic bronze medalist Holly McPeak, Makare Wilson, Ashley Ivy, Brittany Hochevar, Chrissie Zartman and Ella Vakhidova. AVP Tour announcer Chris "Geeter" McGee is also featured in the episode. The beginning of the show centers around an AVP beach volleyball tournament that "CSI: Miami" investigator Eric Delko is attending. During Misty and Kerri's match, they accidentally discover a body part in the sand, which stops the match and leads Delko and the rest of the "CSI:Miami" team to investigate. The scene was filmed in Marina del Rey on January 10 where they replicated an actual AVP tournament featuring stands, tents and hundreds of extras. "It is very exciting to have our players featured on a show like 'CSI:Miami,'" said Leonard Armato, CEO and Tour Commissioner. "It is a highly respected show with a strong viewership that can only help us further promote the AVP brand and our sport. We hope that we can reach more fans, and even create new ones from our involvement with the show. Hopefully there will be more opportunities like this to showcase our product and our talent." Feb 03 2006 - The February 6th episode of CSI: Miami was profiled extensively in the February 6th (US) TV Guide. Damian Young reprises his role as Walter Resden, Horatio Caine's arch enemy. After Resden was let go by a judge on a technicality, he comes back to taunt Caine and go after another target. The rest of the articles was spoiler-ridden, so if you wish to read it, check it out on your local newsstand. Jan 09 2006 - More spoilers were divulged in the January 9-15th TV Guide, in which it seems that Horatio has begun dating Delko's sister. "There will be a moment when he gets called to the hospital and it is the worst news and the best news," says executive producer Ann Donahue. "Nobody realizes how far this relationship is going to go. Or how intense it's going to be." Donahue also hints that two other members of Caine's team will share some intimate moments that "may result in the birth of a little CSI." Dec 15 2005 - Stargate actor Michael Shanks, who guest stars in the upcoming "Payback" episode on December 19th, is interviewed at Eclipse magazine. It's a lengthy interview with some spoiler potential. Dec 07 2005 – The fan site ModernDaySherlock interviewed staff writer Corey Miller. EXCERPT: Q: You also wrote the episode "Under the Influence" which brought in character Ryan Wolfe (Jonathan Togo). Was it hard to find a new actor to replace Rory Cochrane and what was the reactions among the show? A:When Rory asked to leave the show, we were disappointed to lose him, but at the same time, were also excited by the new dynamic we could bring to the show by killing a beloved character in a sudden way.” Click on the link above for more fascinating info. Dec 07 2005 - Adam Rodriguez was interviewed at Metronews in Canada (where he recently helped promote the CSI: MIami the board game). Adam's career on TV began when he was 10 years old, when he auditioned for a role on the Cosby Show, but his break came when he landed a role on ABC's NYPD Blue. "My career has been great ... no complaints so far, and being on (CSI: Miami) has been tremendous," he says. "Anytime you do something you want it to be the best, and you do everything in your power to make it that way … the show has definitely been a winner, and it's really nice to be on a winning team." ... "We have a lot of fun on set, we have a lot of laughs … we really lighten it up on set," he says. "Who wants to be serious all the time, anyway? Especially with all the goriness … they just make it a lot of fun to go to work every day." Rodriguez says he has two and a half years left in his contract on the show, and after that he's not sure what he wants to do next, but it might include comedy. The Hollywood Reporter said that "This exclusive Web scene between Ryan Wolfe and Erica Sikes contains a dramatic revelation about someone in our lab -- a revelation that threatens to tear the team apart, and will lead to a shocking conclusion at the end of our season," executive producer Ann Donahue said. In the online extension to the episode, titled "Urban Hellraisers," Amy Laughlin's character shares a crucial piece of information with Jonathan Togo's character, setting in motion an undercover investigation. The online disclosure is being characterized as a bonus scene and will debut immediately after the East Coast broadcast Monday at 10 p.m. ET. Donahue said the online exclusive is a reward for the show's loyal fans. Nov 07 2005 – The press today covered the Miami/NY crossover. Some excerpts. Click on links for full text.
- New York Daily News: David Caruso "I love New York. I had an amazing experience there and I was fortunate to represent the city on another show. We had a great experience on that show [NYPD Blue]. You never stop being a New Yorker. There's probably no bigger part of you than being a New Yorker. My identity as a New Yorker is a profound part of who I am. And that part will never leave." Creator Anthony Zuiker said of the two lead stars from the shows: "They're both stunningly talented actors. David Caruso has such a self-awareness about his position in the world and his attachment and emotional connection with the viewer. Gary Sinise has such a method to how he acts. He chews through every line. He sends me long E-mails about motivations.”
- Chicago Tribune: “ … David Caruso seems to be trying to give his character a moody, melancholy depth, but he more often achieves a strained sort of pretentious, cheeseball hamminess. … Gary Sinise plays a bluff Big Apple detective with the name Mac Taylor, with all the squareness and solidity that name implies. So you could say that this week's crossover between the New York and Miami editions of "CSI," which begins Monday, is a double helping of Mac and cheese. With a side serving of Madonna.
- TV Guide: “Anyone who wants a free — albeit rather blood-soaked — trip from the Sunshine State to gritty New York City need only tune in to CBS' massive CSI: Miami-CSI: NY crossover, beginning tonight at 10 pm and reaching a shocking climax on Wednesday at 10 pm/ET. In the sprawling saga, a mass murderer in transport to Florida becomes a man on the loose, offing a lot of people who get in his way and ultimately leading Miami's Det. Horatio Caine to the Big Apple, where he and NY counterpart Mac Taylor (pull out all the stops to ferret out the fugitive. The case is so complex and the killer so chilling that of course it demanded two CSIs.”
- New Jersey Ledger: “TONIGHT, THE "CSI" franchise will be shaken to its core! Tonight, you'll see a side of David Caruso you've never seen before! Tonight, everything you know about Horatio Caine and Mac Taylor will be proven wrong! Or not. After all, all we're talking about is another crossover between the virtually identical "CSI: Miami" and "CSI: NY," which is a bit like going to a deli and secretly swapping your pastrami sandwich for your friend's smoked meat. Is anyone really going to be able to tell the difference?”
- Grand Rapids Press: "We're telling a two-hour story here that's really a movie," said Ann Donahue, executive producer of "Miami." She was on board with Anthony Zuiker, executive producer of "NY," for a media conference call last week to plug the crossover episodes. "It's very bloody and gory and exciting," she said. And how. The sweeps storyline will revolve around the search for serial killer Henry Darius (James Badge Dale, "24"), who told New York cops he has a body stashed in Miami.

Oct 21 2005 - Entertainment Weekly reports that the producers of CSI: Miami and CSI: NY paid Madonna to preview a dance song ("Hung Up") from her upcoming album, Confessions on a Dance Floor, during the Miami-NY November crossover episodes. "We wanted the song to be relevant to what's going on," said executive producer Ann Donahue. Not Desperate Housewives or Lost, but CSI: Miami. "The fact that 'CSI: Miami' is pulling in such stellar ratings on primetime European schedules, against premium domestic content, is a testament to the immense popularity of the franchise," said Ted Riley, executive managing director of distribution for Alliance Atlantis, the Canuck company that licenses the show abroad. International TV analysts say that CSI: Miami is pulling in $850,000-$900,000 an episode -- a rather healthy sum in line with what the Hollywood majors get abroad for their best drama series. The analysts also believe the original CSI is pulling in a similar sum, but CSI: NY is 'lagging pricewise.' Meanwhile, on the domestic front, A&E got a bargain from distributor King World, paying $1 million an episode for reruns of "CSI: Miami," while Spike TV forked over $1.9 million an episode for repeats of "CSI: NY." It's too soon to tell if CSI: NY will follow in Miami's footsteps. Miami is now the no. 1 US show in Germany, consistently pulling in a 26% audience share in the 14-49 demo. In France, Miami scored a 38% share on TF1, and ranks 29th overall in that country, a feat rarely achieved by US series. In the UK, it's the third highest rated US drama on Channel Five (behind the original CSI), averaging a 13.5% audience share. And in Spain, season 3 of CSI: Miami pulled in a 25% audience share on Telecino. It's the second highest rated US drama in Spain (behind CSI) and growing in key demos.
