GB3MD Repeater Logic GB3MX

The logic in use on the two Mansfield repeaters was designed by G6CUK.
There are currently three versions that may be in operation, depending on which repeater units are in use.
All versions include a built in DTMF remote control system. This operates on a dedicated input and allows modification of numerous parameters as well as remote shutdown .
The original version 1 controller is now only fitted to the spare UHF repeater. This unit was designed to be reprogrammable on site without the need to remove the microcontroller from the circuit board.

It also had a few extras, such as a built in audio squelch system. Both original controllers were upgraded in hardware and software to be as close to version 2 specification as possible.
Version 2 Controller Version 2 is fitted to the main UHF repeater and to the spare VHF repeater.
This is a complete redesign of the original system. Many alterations to hardware and software have been made, resulting in a better overall performance. Some of the unused features found on the original controller have

been omitted from version 2 allowing for construction of a smaller unit.
The latest controller is Version 3. This is fitted to the main VHF repeater.

This controller is similar in both hardware and software to version 2 but has the addition of a remotely loadable voice identification system and supports three remotely switchable outputs for use on either external equipment (e.g.. heaters) or to modify
Version 3 Controller
the repeater configuration. (e.g.. TX power level)
Because of the extra circuitry involved, version 3 uses a large number of surface mount devices to keep the PCB size down to a minimum.
