VOX QUESTIONS

Q - What does the name "VOX" mean? A - It is the Latin word for "voice."

Q - Did Vox ever make left handed guitars? A - Until recently I would have said no, but I have just seen an authentic Italian lefty Vox bass. This is the only real lefty Vox instrument I've ever seen but there may be more out there.

Q - Can US made Vox amps and Italian made Vox guitars be dated with their serial numbers? A - NO. The serial numbers have no sequence or code.

Q - Did Vox ever make a production model white teardrop guitar just like Brian Jones had? A - NO. While you can find 2 pickup UK made Vox teardrops, Brians is the only one that has the hardtail Strat style bridge/tailpiece.

Q - Was the "Univox" company affiliated with Vox in any way? A - NO. Very early on in his carreer Tom Jennings did produce a keyboard called the "Univox" which was a precursor to the modern synthesizer, but the Univox brand of Asian made instruments was not affiliated with Vox in any way.

RICKENBACKER QUESTIONS

Q - Wasn't Adolph Rickenbacher originally from Germany? A - NO, he was born in Switzerland.

Q - Was famous flyer Eddie Rickenbacker associated with the company in any way? A - NO. The company founder Adolph Rickenbacher was however a distant cousin of Eddie Rickenbacker. The company did change the spelling of it's name from "Rickenbacher" to "Rickenbacker" as did most of Adolph's Swiss-American relatives.

Q - Didn't Dearmond make the Rickenbacker "toaster" pickups? A - NO. Rickenbacker has always wound their own pickups.

Q - Weren't Rickenbackers made in Germany and/or England in the 60's? A - NO. They have always been made in California.
