Farm Bridge

This wood timber bridge was built as a joint project by Dover and Sherborn in 1884. Sherborn built the ten foot span on stone piers at the left end and Dover built the other three spans. It has since been rebuilt
as a concrete structure.

The first bridge across the river into what is now Dover was built at this site. On February 12, 1658 the Town of Dedham granted Daniel Morse "so much timber near Charles River as might be fit to build a bridge over the said river over against his farm near Natick"... because "timber is very scarce on his farm".

This gave Dedham access to 3400 acres of its land in the east part of Sherborn and also allowed Morse to attend his church across the river in Medfield.
