The Ribston-Pippins began life in November of 1988. As there were no active scions in the Detroit Metropolitan area at the time, the Ribston-Pippins founder, Regina Stinson, BSI*, decided the time was ripe for a new Sherlock Holmes group. Fliers were made and distributed to various local bookstores and libraries in an economical effort to locate others who were interested in pursuing "the game". Thus it was that at 7:30PM, on November 18, 1988, approximately 10 people arrived at what is now affectionately referred to as Wisteria Lodge for the first official scion meeting. November of 2006 marked the 18th anniversary of the Ribston-Pippins.
The Ribston-Pippins society is listed on page 1855 in volume II of Les Klinger's "The New Annotated Sherlock Holmes", (Norton, 2005), and also on page 315 of Matthew Bunson's "Encyclopedia Sherlockiana", (Macmillan, 1994).
We continue the tradition of "playing the game" with our current meetings being, somewhat irregularly, 6 times a year.
