African Journey - Introduction
Hi! My name is Rich Piazza. Welcome to the African
Journey WWW site. This site is a compilation of the photos, music,
and information relating to my participation as a volunteer in the
Peace Corps from 1961 to 1963 as well as the subsequent 3-month, 10,000
mile motorcycle trip through much of Africa. All references to countries'
names, leaders, etc., reflect what they were at that time. A video and
DVD comprising the full 300 photos, considerable indigenous music, and
narration is available for viewing at the John Fitzgerald Kennedy Library,
Columbia Point in Boston Mass.
The "Journey" is composed of 5 sections. The first page
of each section is "opened" by clicking on any of the first 5 "buttons"
below. You can also page through the entire site by using the "next
page" button. Since this is quite a large site with more than 300 photos
and about 54 "pages" you may not want to view it all in one session.
Simply "bookmark" the page you get to so that you can resume your
journey from that same spot when you are ready to continue.

Technical Stuff:
This site is constructed using Netscape Navigator Gold 3.0 and is best
viewed with that browser.
For best viewing your browser window should be set a bit wider
than the horizontal line above.
Since this site consists primarily of images it is most easily
viewed using fast modems and computers.
All original photos were taken with a Voigtlander "Bessamatic" 35 mm camera
and music was
recorded with a Stancil Hoffman reel-to-reel tape recorder. Keep
in mind that all pictures and
music on this site are taken from slides and tape that are more
than 40 years old!
