On April 15, 2000, we will begin riding our bicycles across the United States. Our goal is threefold: in no particular order, we hope to 1.) have a great adventure 2.) raise funds for the Lance Armstrong Foundation--a group dedicated to the fight against cancer 3.) set the U.S. Masters record (over 30 age group) for the most mindless banter ever recorded on the open road. Actually, while we do hope to have a great time, we feel that this is an excellent opportunity to raise money for a very worthy cause. We hope you will all support us in this effort. As for our route, we will ride over 4400 miles through 11 states, hoping to average around 75 miles a day. The journey begins in Yorktown, VA and ends in Seattle, WA (for a map of the route click here) . We plan on being totally self-supportive, meaning everything we need will be on our bikes. The majority of nights we'll camp, saving the luxuries of Motel 6 either for when it rains or local ordinance states that we must shower. We would love to take all of you with us, especially those of you that have a car with those cushy bucket seats, but instead we'll be posting frequent updates as well as digital photographs of the trip as it happens. Please note, however, that we will be removing the satellite dishes from our heads when we sleep, so there will not be a 24 hour live feed. We've designed this website to be as easy and informative as possible. The list below acts as a Table of Contents, so if you're interested in a specific area, just click on it. In particular, we would encourage you to read the information about the Lance Armstrong Foundation. However, if you'd rather roam and explore, feel free--that's what we'll be doing for the next 2-1/2 months. If you see that our route takes us near your hometown, please drop us a line and let us know. We'd love the support, company, and most important, a home cooked meal. We thank you all for visiting our site, and welcome all your comments and questions. Rick and Greg
