Who is Rick Broadhead, real estate agent in Kirkland, Washington.

Who am I and what I do these days?

LINE
welcome home

I was born in Chicago a long time ago. While my father was serving in WWII and the Korean War, we lived in various apartments in the heart of Chicago. When dad returned from Korea and occupied Japan, he said he would NEVER be cold again! So we packed up and moved to Tucson, Arizona when I was nine.

At the age of 12 I was "helping dad" in land development and home construction throughout the greater Tucson area. My experience spanned all of the basic trades from surveying, digging ditches, pouring concrete, framing, plumbing and electrical work. At 19 I joined the U.S. Navy and received an honorable discharge after 4 years service including two tours of Vietnam (see "Vietnam service page" in box below OR click VETERAN image to right). I attended Santa Clara University while living in Palo Alto, California and majored in electrical engineering and business management. I spent a lot of my free time in the Height-Ashbury playing 'flower child' (complete with long hair and head band) enjoying the rebellious nature of the times.

Then I began a serious career in the electronics industry with Teledyne MEC in Palo Alto, California building electronic warfare equipment for the Army, Navy, Air Force and some friendly country's of the times. Eventually I moved on to the TV and radio broadcast industry and held Vice Presidential positions in RCA, Whittaker and General Signal corporations. ALL of these positions included responsibility for the engineering, advertising and marketing of major high dollar goods to military, commercial and consumer client bases. After 20 years, I'd had enough.

WHAT ABOUT REAL ESTATE?
I had enjoyed home remodeling and real estate from my more "youthful years". So I joined the family owned electrical contracting business in San Diego, California. I was involved in both remodeling and new construction during the boom years of the California population growth. But no, I didn't reap the benefits of the "insane" price escalations that were going on. I still have to work for a living. I moved to Issaquah, Washington in 1992 to be closer to my mother, my brother and his family after my father passed away. I've been involved with land development and home sales ever since.
The industry has undergone extreme changes over the past ten years. Today, real estate transactions have become far more complex. In today's litigation crazy environment a professional real estate agent (or attorney) is WELL worth the cost in the long run. The growth of the Internet has lead many people to believe it's reasonable and possible to search for your home or sell it without the help of a real estate professional. That couldn't be farther from the fact. Read my other pages concerning what an agent does for you in buying or selling property then give me a call.

A LITTLE MORE ABOUT ME
My corporate life included 6 relocations spanning the continent and up and down the west coast.
Perhaps we've lived in close proximity in the past......
In California: San Francisco, Palo Alto, Encinitas, Mountain View, and San Jose
IN Arizona: Tucson, traveled and camped throughout the state
In New Jersey: Cherry Hill
In Maine: Windham
In Florida: Hollywood, Miami Lakes and Ft. Lauderdale
In Washington: Issaquah and Kirkland

The list of countries and cities I've visited throughout the world is endless. During the years with RCA I traveled throughout Europe, Africa, the Far East and just about every city in these United States. If you're relocating, chances are I've visited near your home town no matter what part of the world it's in. So I would enjoy meeting you and assisting you in your RELOCATION!

Boat WHAT DO I ENJOY DOING?
1. The picture is a good clue. Sailing on Puget Sound.
2. Playing golf at the many public courses in the area.
3. Attending live theater and concerts in downtown Seattle.
4. Reading lots of books.
5. Computer 'stuff' including web page design.
6. Designing other 'stuff' with AutoCad.
7. Travel, but not too far at the moment.
8. Dreaming of the day I sail off into the sunset for destinations unknown again!
