Chess Flashcard
TrainerTM
What is it?
This program uses a flashcard model
for learning chess. Using it will improve your tactical
ability, calculation, time management, visualization
skills, and pattern recognition. It does this in a very
efficient manner, and in a user-friendly environment.
The program is easy to use, and is based on an existing
time-proven approach to chess training. With this
program, you can use exercise sets (positions) that you
define yourself, or you can use one of the many free
PGN (Portable Game Notation) exercise sets available
for free on the internet.
What is it for?
You can use this program to quickly
learn key opening positions, or do exercises of all
sorts. The uses for it are quite varied, and are
totally up to the user. But I mostly use it to do
tactical exercises. If you
want to use it to learn opening positions, I would
recommend that you set the time per exercise to be low.
If you are solving tactical exercises, I would
recommend that you use 3-10 minutes per exercise
depending on the difficulty level. I would also
recommend using the ELO filter in the options dialog
box.
What does this program do that
others can't?
It easily and automatically
generates training problems downloaded for free off
the internet. It automatically scores each
exercise's difficulty, according to a proprietary
algorithm. And it presents these exercises
automatically, in a randomized fashion. All this
comes bundled in a very easy to use package.
Why should I buy it?
You might want to buy it, since
it is like getting a dozen tactics books for $14. Or
you could buy it because it gives you the capability
to quickly and easily learn important positions. Or
maybe you like the time-saving ELO filtering option,
for automatic selection of exercises that are
neither too easy, nor too hard. But don't take my
word for it, download the demo!
Compatibility
This program should run on any
PC-compatible running windows 95 or greater, and
windows NT 4.0 and greater.
Limitations
of the Demo
The demo version is missing
features that come with the full version. These
include ELO filtering (automatically score
difficulty of exercises in database, and present
them to the user), Clipboard support, and the
ability to open different PGN files. There is also a
15 game limit in the demo.
The full version has none of the
limitations of the demo, and only costs $14. This is
a bargain when you consider that you can download
thousands of problems off the internet for free.
This is like getting over a dozen combination books
for free. Purchase via Paypal (see button on left),
and you will be sent a download link.
You can download sets all over
the internet, but one of the best sites for them is
